No. Finding it a chore now. Been there and done the lower leagues and the odd season aside it was woeful.

I think in some ways you might prefer that Annis. Am I right in saying that.

I went to oxford friendly last year and it felt nice to be around fans who knew all the songs and weren't there to watch oxford.

The premier league is the place to be,its where every team aspirers to be.A lot of rose tinted spectacles in this thread, the quality of football in the lower leagues is shit and was shit.Hopefully we never go there again, long live the premier league.

Proud to say I've watch city in every division and would be no problem doing it again.

Re: Would you still go if we dropped down the leagues?

Great question op

I would probably go to more games due to it being easier and cheaper to get a ticket.

Been following city 14 years now. Never had a season ticket some seasons I never missed a home league game. Some seasons went to less than half. This season relying on mates who can't make a home game to borrow their st.

Still waiting.

Having not got my shit together and missing out on the gold membership is my fault though.

But to get to the point will never stop going.

I haven't posted or even been on for over a year but I was watching the Jacks game in the Hollybush Sunday and was quite impressed with the support in the pub for the City. Chatting to guys most are old regulars who can't afford season tickets so can no longer go. Replacing them are fans who have sprung up probably since the FA Cup final. Can I make it clear that I have nothing against them. We need them fans to progress as a club and become established in the Premiership, which is what we all wanted all those years in the bottom two leagues. That's why I am posting this question as I am honestly intrigued and hope this board has a good mix of fans who can start a debate.

The answer for myself is probably not. Not because of the Red or Vincent Tan as if I am honest I prefer his stewardship to the Riddler. Although lately has been shocking at least it's related to football and no longer HMRC related. I really felt started to feel distant from the club from the semi final and final of the FA Cup run year and I have never really got back. Us being back in the Premiership got me a bit of excitement back but that's probably cos it's new. It might be the new ground. Although Ninian Park could be quiet when it was rocking it really was rocking and being stood on the Grange End, Bob Bank or even Lower Grandstand is where all my best memories of football come from.

Interesting and very relevant post. I've had a season ticket for around 30 years or so most of those years I lived in London so was quite expensive to travel to home games. I know live "officially" in Copenhagen but work mostly abroad yet still buy a Season Ticket every year, get to see maybe one or two games a season at home and a few "aways". Will I buy a Season Ticket next season? I honestly don't know, will I still support Cardiff City Yes. Don't give a f**k what league we're in, there is no other club for me. I'm lucky enough to have a job where I travel a lot throughout Europe so do have the opportunity to see other football teams but it is not the same. No matter what the four or five idiots on MM's board say it is not the same. When Anis set this board up years ago I said what was/would happen to British and European football, it does appear I was correct for once, inside info though I admit. We have lost the Cardiff City that we all knew and loved even though she was a bitch at times, well most of the time but we moved on. I'll rephrase that, the club has moved on into the modern era but us uns old cannot and will not move on. Wembley, FA Cup Final, I sat in my designated seat (first time ever), looked around and cried, the famous Cardiff City hadn't been to Rome to see the Pope, Swansea went there for some begging probably, (do the romany gypos on their own patch) and the pontiff said "go forth and multiply". A sea of Blue, yet I'd guess 50 to 75% of our support that day were on their first or second game. One Club, one life.

I would go even if we were non-league. Anyone who wouldn't aren't real "supporters" in my eyes.

Re: Would you still go if we dropped down the leagues?

I agree with Willy that the club has moved on just as football has moved on. Entities tend to do that, for if they don't they die.
Would I go and watch City in a lower division(which would imply that what we have now goes tits up big time)? Well, I've done it for most of my life even though like Willy I haven't personally moved on to the new how it is, but I would much rather stay where we are thank you.

Excellent response. Thanks for taking so much time over that. I didn't get to Wembley for either of the FA Cup games. Me and a few other mates who used to support the City all over the place went to Canton to watch it together. I loved that. I then saw so many people on facebook etc who had never, ever been and I still see it now. Hasn't been my club since the cup final.

Started supporting Cardiff when we were down and almost out!!!

That is why this season and the the last 10 to 15 seasons have been sweet as f**k!!! Owners, managers and players come and go but us fans are always always there

I would start going again if we were in Blue, in any league. Some of my best times following City were in the old Div 3/4.

Problem for me though, is that football has changed, it aint as magic as it used to be. The music, clobber, banter, the odd battle are gone and for me that was football.. the whole thing.

It will never be the same because everything has moved on, which some might say is good, but to watch a low standard of footbal without all the other things that made Saturday such a special day, it would not be the same.

Thinking about it most sport has changed for the worse... Snooker, Darts and Boxing have lost their thing compared to the late 70s and through to the early 90s.

And who decided to take the Crystal Maze of TV, ruined TV as well

I'd still go, for sure.

Feck me 20 leagues down and even you could afford to buy the club and change the colour back to blue just in time for our derby with Ely rangers or Cardiff Corries.

At least we would be proud again, hey and no more of this Red bullshit and fans buying it, wearing it and endorsing it and sticking up for it, still cant believe anyone does

^^^^^ THIS

The last time we were proper shit 94-97 it just co-incided with me being 18-21 and football was all id spend my disosposable income on. Id just started supporting city beginning of 1992 so it was all very new and honeymoon period to me and the fact we were shit wasnt that much of a problem because going to the football was more of a social thing and it wasnt that expensive.

Fast forward 20 years and its a whole different ball game.
