Ok Andy, I'll tell you and this IS the truth. There were about 20-25 of us drinking in the Queens pub nearing closing time when some kid comes running in saying Cardiff are down the seafront. About 4 or 5 us leave and run down the back of county hall and the rest go through the Sandfields area. While we are running around the path on the seafront in front of the county hall about 5-6 cardiff lads are coming towards us. When they see us they turn around and run back towards where they came from. By this time the others who had come through the sandfields area had turned up and were confronting the rest of the cardiff mob, and they must have felt trapped and ran down onto the beach and into the sea. We went after them (waist deep), and honestly both sets were laughing at each other and throwing insults. Even the police were laughing when they also waded in! As I clambered up the bank from the beach a cardiff lad kicked me in the head! He laughed, I laughed. Everything seemed to be funny as f**k by this time! The best moment was Mel Nurse who owned a nearby hotel shouting at a Cardiff lad to get off his car as he was jumping up and down on the roof!![]()
There were actually about even numbers, but as it turned out in reality a local group of youngsters known as the mini angels arranged a meet with the PVM (Port Talbot Violence Mob), and it seems they bit off more than they could chew, so one of them came to the Queens to get the 'big boys'. So obviously although it was even numbers, it was guys in their mid twenties against 16, 17 and 18 year old kids so they didn't really stand a chance. And thats why most of us on the night took it as a laugh. I've never looked on it at as some sort of result as it wasn't! Of course, it's become legendary in a way that it's something to take the piss out you for, but in reality I dont even consider it to be an act of football hooliganism! So there you have it!

We got to the top of west gate st (the pic infact) when th ob where there waiting.
Now it could be put down to good police work that they found out??? Or the guy who was telling us where to go was a grass.
But we all met up out side the city center in swansea and done nothing for the ob to pull any limo so u tell me what would u think.
Allso I might add? We did try! As we did when 40 of us came up on the shuttle 2 in the afternoon to avoid o.
All thes options were open to u and your merry men over the yrars but instead decided to stay with in the safety off the bubble trip.
So please dont slag and mock us for at least trying to think outside the box when u have never.

I am not missing the point, I do understand why u did it.As to 5 limos we were told on the day there was only 2 limos and and that one of the Jacks in the Limo rang the Police to let them know u were coming as deep down u were shitting it, as to whether that is true, we might never know the truth, but how come the police were waiting for u lot? thats still a mystery.
Also, we have come to u lot massive on many times in the 80's and 90's and thats a fact as I came every time and seen it for myself.![]()
I do remember going to you twice when we were totally Banned, I got in on the one occasion and got eventually put in the away end at the Vetch, joined by about 400 Cardiff in the end. On the next occasion I got stopped at the turnstiles and escorted back to my car lol
Also 25 of us incl 20 PVM from Port Talbot, went on your end on a European Cup game, yes we took a bit of pasting but we went for it.
Panathinaikos was the team and u had big numbers out that night due to what happened over their.
