Re: Gald I never did a TLG

This sunday will be my first home game since the rebrand, although I've been to a few away games last season and this season. Looking forward to it, although not as much as previous years.

Just imagine if youd decided to quit on principle over a shirt colour issue which most people have now forgotten and you are sat at home with your spiders missing those three games.

for those who have been their for years have a real treat this season ,the top division was always a dream back in the 80s when i started watching us not to see us there over a colour seem a bit silly :ayatollah:

Bringing it down to that level, it seems "a bit silly" to spend countless thousands of pounds watching total strangers with little or no connection to South Wales kicking around a bag of air

My team Cardiff City are not strangers i watch them like always regardless of the opposition.. :thumbright:

I know mate. I was being a bit facetious in response to Wez. For some the colour change means little, for others we associate it hugely with Cardiff City.

Admire your stance but all ill say is we are still Cardiff city which is what I associate myself with not a colour and not a badge, we've done the rebrand to death and I'm still of the opinion the club needed to evolve to try and reach its potential, will it evolve as far as I believe it can? Time will tell but I'm quite happy sticking along for the ride nothing is easy as a Cardiff fan and never has been in my 12 years of following and I'm sure there will be more twists and turns along the way but I won't sacrifice watching what I fell in love with and that's the whole match day experience not a colour not the clubs history, of which there is very little success just enjoying a day out with the lads drinking singing supporting the team and going through the typical match day turmoil if I believed 100% in iur history I'd be wearing riverside colours

I didn't go once last season, first season I missed in 30 years, I had a ticket given to me for free for Man City and Everton and went in, got a ticket for Sunday too as someone can't go, I'm anti rebrand and still not given money direct to Tan and not bought and will not buy anything while in the Stadium. Any free tickets for Man Utd you know where to give it :D

See you in the casino for 1pm. We'll have to get a load of grub down us if you're not buying any of those lovely burgers in the ground :D

All about opinions.

Fact is no other club has had to surrender so much of its identity for a stab at the PL.

Colours are normally treated as absolutely sacrosanct at football clubs, hence why changing ours after over a century was pretty outrageous.

Agree that clubs need to develop and evolve but at no point has the rebrand itself been responsible for the development or evolution of the club. The change has happened because one extremely arrogant and selfish man decided it was his preferred colour.

Yep all about opinions mate very correct hence why I posted mine :)

Your probably right the colour might not have a massive day in the evolving but it's what vinny wanted (unfortunately) and without him I dread to think where we would be and no one can argue the rate of development since he announced the rebrand has been unbelievable he's done a lot more good than bad in my opinion and once he delivers the rest of his plans and eventually floats us who knows maybe we'll get the colours back to being back the others who have admirably stayed away, but if and when that day does come I hope everyone can look upon tans reign and say well hang in this man DID deliver the dream and more and yes he made mistakes and bad ones but as bad as his predecessors is argue not, I'd take red expanded stadium new training facilities investment in the team and premier league footy over the ticket scam and Black Friday everyday! This man is delivering and the only thing stopping him becoming a legendary chairman is the horrid colour and badge

So you are saying you never had had an issue with the club then.

Is it not you that whinges about Sam Hamman yet you continued to go to the games when he was at the club.

Re: Gald I never did a TLG

Fri Nov 01, 2013 5:40 pm

The ones I've got respect for are the ones who have gone about their own business without trying to put others down.

So, no, no respect for TLG, he's made his stand, but instead of being a man about it and taking it on the chin he has spent every day since whining and slagging off those who continue to follow the club. That action is certainly not worthy of respect. Sarcasm and snide comments are just the actions of a spoilt spiteful brat. Best course of action if you feel like that is to walk away with your pride intact and find something else to do. That is exactly what I planned to do if we signed the sex offender ( a far more important reason not to support the club IMHO). This makes me sad that I should lose respect for someone who I really got on with and who I worked closely with when setting the Supporter's trust up, and who I found interesting and knowledgeable. Hopefully one day this will all be sorted out and we can all be on the same side again - as I really feel some WANT us to fail and revel in any bad news etc.. which is really disappointing.

I'm more likely to have respect for those who whether they go or not continue to respectfully put their point across, Alf Sherwood does this although sometimes like many of us (including myself) he can't help himself and oversteps when the passion comes through.

Or those who despite what sh1t gets thrown their way continue to support the club through thick and thin - showing true loyalty, and not turning their back because things have been done which they aren't happy with, but still respect those who don't agree. e.g I won't wear a red shirt even though I have had shirts for years and years (even a red away one 20 years ago) mainly for playing 5 -a-side in, but certainly will not waver in my support for the club.

Anyway, I'm sure not everyone will agree with me, but it's an alternative opinion for you.

Lets be honest people do take football far to seriously.
Bottom line,it is only a game,it is only a colour.
tlg has since said he wishes now that he should never have taken football so serious and there is a life away from football.

It's only an excuse For a lot of those people, they were disillusioned with modern football, leaving Ninian, not the same crowds, lots of money to go etc, gave them a get out without losing face

Good point

Re: Gald I never did a TLG

Most of the people I know stopped watching games once Ninian Park was knocked down. I have respect for anyone who's stopped going, for whatever reason. The full bars in various pubs and clubs in the Rhondda area every single game, watching the matches 'live' on tv suggest that the majority still care about us, red or blue.

That is true but sadly someone will be there to take their place so if the stadium sells out every week then the club will see the re brand as a success unfortunately :(

Craig, I agree with your comment (even if I think they were only hurting themselves by doing so) :ayatollah:

Lots on here moan and groan about the rebrand (and anything else they can) but they are by default now 'accepting' of the situation in real terms

At least those that went (ElyBoy is another that stings to mind) had the courage of their convictions and they gained my respect for that, if not my support (as I wish deeply that the club and its supporters were united in the Premier League) :ayatollah:
