You can have loads of possession, loads of shots on target, hit the bar, post, off the line, great saves from their keeper, wrongly disallowed goals, the lot. Then they break away, score from their only shot of the game, via a deflection, offside, no flag, and you've lost 1-0.
It happens, sometimes. That's the beauty of football. Otherwise we'd have nothing to talk about.

But you are talking about exceptions.
Generally, the more shots you have on target the more chance of scoring. Nobody won a match in the prem on the weekend by having less shots on target.

But on quite a few occasions in recent weeks it has happened i.e. teams losing despite more shots on target
