Only one statistic counts. Football is a simple game.

Not really, you cant get one statistic without the other.

You can have loads of possession, loads of shots on target, hit the bar, post, off the line, great saves from their keeper, wrongly disallowed goals, the lot. Then they break away, score from their only shot of the game, via a deflection, offside, no flag, and you've lost 1-0.

It happens, sometimes. That's the beauty of football. Otherwise we'd have nothing to talk about.

Least goals ratio to shots in Premier League history, that stat may not be beaten for a couple of years,a little bit embarrassing for Norwich but at least they got a point. Can't see them getting that unlucky again though!

31 shots and not one converted.

How much did they spend on Hoops and wolfs?

Says a lot more about there ability than our defense ...

But you are talking about exceptions.

Generally, the more shots you have on target the more chance of scoring. Nobody won a match in the prem on the weekend by having less shots on target.

But on quite a few occasions in recent weeks it has happened i.e. teams losing despite more shots on target

People have scored from the halfway line before, but doing it constantly and being happy with doing it just because it CAN happen is crazy as you will miss ridiculously more times than score and it will effect you hugely during the season, even if you get 3 or 4 goals.

It happens yes, they are exceptions though as we have talked about before. Thats why a performance such as that is of concern even though you got a point. If that trend continues then you are no different to anyone else in the league - you will be rooted to the bottom section of the league.

Just like most sports with a target goal like hockey, basketball, football etc it is just basic law of averages. The more shots you have the more chance you have of scoring. The more shots you concede the more chance you have of conceding.

There is a direct link between the teams creating more chances while giving up less chances being up the top end of the league while the teams that create the fewest chances and concede more chances to the opposition being down the bottom end of the league,

You will find that across any league in any country.
