well done for going to Hull
bit too far for the kids in my mind, hence why I would like to take them to a game nearer to home.
Don't want Mau U, Liverpool, Arsenal away...not glory hunting....just want to take my kids to a close game so they can get a taste of it. Surely they are entitled to that as Ambos.....but no, they will not be able to go because of how the tickets are dished out.
This is why I make the point that being an Ambo for x amount of years should count for something (as the club promised). The regular away attendee will not miss out, but when they are all done the Ambo season ticket holder should be brought into the picture ahead of the johnny come latelys for the last year or so.
Even the most blinkered should be able to see that.........

nonsense.
isnt your eldest 9? at that age i was positively nagging my dad to go to every away game. Match magazine or my game boy in the car for the trip, and get to watch the team play away (which always felt a bit more special than home for some reason). Didnt end up going to one till i was 11 though.
i do get that, as villa is pretty much the closest away game (swansea obvious exception) that for you its the perfect game to go to.... but that applies for lots of people, which is why the demand is high. The only thing the club might have done wrong here is scaling down the number of games from last season. i.e. 5 then 4 away games.
having said that, we have played only 3 away matches this season, and you have to have been to two to get a ticket for villa. West ham had a restriction of 3 last season, Fulham sold out in a day and Hull didnt even sell out, i dont think there will be a lot of "johnny come latelys" as you call them in front of you.
How many season ticket holders did we have 5 seasons ago anyway? about 10,000? or was it more? even then your chances of getting a ticket wouldnt be perfect, and you may not be able to take the kids.
the solutions you have come up with are all taylored to your personal situation.... funny that! If you want to intergrate the kids into away fixtures and let them experience the whole day (personally, used to spend ages analyising the match, and listening to the phone ins on the way home, all part of the day!) then you should be looking to take them to the games you can get tickets for. Hull, Sunderland, Stoke, Palace, etc. But dont complain about the club looking after the people who go to more away games, they are trying to do right by the majority, not just what suits you.

we shall agree to disagree
I am not interested in the majority..agree there, just interested in me.
hopefully see you at Villa.....I will try my best for a ticket. Failing that West Brom as that's also close - maybe we will be down the bottom then and the johnny come latelys may have backed off !

WHAT MOST FANS WISH FOR IS CONSISTENCY , TRANSPARENCY..........and loyalty rewarded
ALL the ones piping up...........ARE the ones that went in the championship.
how on earth could Chelsea be SOLD OUT in 25 minutes...................to who?......criteria was 6..all of a sudden only 1300 did 6........so who had the extra Chelsea tickets..........i know at least half a dozen with more than 6 that missed out...whats the point in setting criteria if it counts for nothing?

Something does need to be done Carl, at least a bit of clarity from the club regarding where the tickets are going. I am glad there will be a represenative for the independent travellers.
As it stands I'm still without a ticket for Norwich a week Saturday, yet I've not missed a game home or away in any competition for over 10 years. I don't expect a ticket over anyone else the club set the criteria and as long as I was pro-active in getting online/on the phone/down the ground, in usual circumstances I would be able to get a ticket. Unfortunately this didn't happen for the Norwich game. I had absolutely no chance, because there was a tiny amount of tickets available and no indication of this from the club. I would've gone and queued early if I knew there were so little available. I tried online and on the telephone but was left with nothing.
I understand that the club want to involve the numbers from both this year and last year. However, the idea that tickets are available to those with 6 from last year, then to 2 from this season - was ridiculous. If you want to involve tickets from both seasons then surely you just have a look how many have been to say 8 games over the 2 seasons, or 9 games, 10 games, whatever...and work from there? How is it fair that someone who has been to 5 games last season and then 1 this year, doesn't get even an opportunity of a ticket where someone who went to West Ham and Fulham does?

this sums you up perfectly. and shows why you dont deserve a ticket at all!

I agree with soulofthesea..
we all new last season that we needed to go to away games to qualify for this season (the same as every season) so WHY change it at this stage of the season ?? pathetic !
I also don't want to jump any que just placed inline fairly ?!!
I have gone from being able to purchase a Norwich ticket to not being able to purchase an away ticket for the foreseeable future .. IS THAT RIGHT ??????

I went to 19 aways last year, and every one so far this year. I couldn't get a Norwich ticket because I don't travel on the bus, but you seem to have got one (as you can't get a villa ticket I assume you've not done many aways, sorry if I'm wrong). Now, is that right?? I'm going to miss the game, but i guarantee there will be someone there who hasn't been away with City before.
Not having a go, as the club got the restrictions wrong, so you have as much right to a ticket as me. However I am very angry that I'm missing a game I wanted to go to, when I would have qualified under whatever restrictions the club had decided to impose. But the travel clubs advised them against any restrictions as apparently THEY hadn't had much interest, then promptly gobbled up all the tickets themselves.
There absolutely has to be some criteria set for away tickets so the people who travel away regularly get the chance to buy them if they want. However, what certainly shouldn't happen is that people going on the bus get to preorder tickets and automatically get them when they go on sale, when the rest of us having to feed off the scraps. Everyone should have the same chance to buy a ticket. If the bus organisers aren't happy with that then they need to have a look at how the manage their bookings. I don't have the ability to call up the club and say "please reserve me a man Utd away ticket" so why should they??

All season ticket holders should start on zero games to qualify every season, otherwise no perks for being a season ticket holder.

The system suits people who mainly want to travel on organised coach trips. Many others, including myself ,don't want to travel that way.

How do you mean ?
Or do you mean the discount for coach travel instead of tickets? I agree it's better to ticket.
Thu Oct 17, 2013 5:16 pm
I mean what I've posted, pretty straight forward really.
Thu Oct 17, 2013 5:21 pm
The club managed to find me three Norwich tickets yesterday, which is the first away this year I can get to, but it seems like I might struggle with Villa as although as a family we did seven aways the season before last, we only managed Wolves last year due to work. I have no issue with those who attend the most aways getting first choice, but not because they travel by coach. It is difficult for many to gain sufficient aways to get the entitlement for the bigger games, but it does appear that once the tickets are reserved for coaches there is no guarantee that qualification criteria is met as it would need to be if tickets are bought directly from the club. A friend of mine told me the other day about a friend of his who has a ticket for Chelsea who has never been to an away game before in his life and that can't be right.
Thu Oct 17, 2013 5:41 pm
People should have to get there own tickets and not through the travel clubs and At the moment it should still be based on last seasons away games taking it down from say 6 and lowering the games every few days and till they sell out.

Annis, it really is difficult to get tickets if you travel by car. Managed to get Fulham by being at the ticket office by half eight. Was in the queue for Norwich by just gone nine, to be told theyd sold out. Didn't try for Chelsea because I wouldn't go back there after last time. Been going to aways with the kids since they were five. Burnley, Sunderland, Torquay Exeter, you name the ground, we ve probably been there. Doesn't seem fair that we ve followed City through all the divisions away, and now its hard to get tickets

I totally understand where your coming from. I dont have anything to do with the Ticket office or the Travel meetings, but I think tickets are now not reaching enough fans and might be wondering upstairs if you know what I mean.

I know the travel groups do an excellent job but I honestly believe fans should get there own tickets then pay for travel. It doesn't seem fair that people get tickets ahead of others because they travel by coach.
Cutting my nose off to spite my face saying that as I always travel by coach when I go.
Not a dig at Vince at all but I've seen him offer tickets about before because people have let him down and not paid for the ticket, that could be a ticket someone who wants to travel by car can't get.

I would hope that the club set the criteria based on the number of tickets that would be left after players etc get them. However, it doesn't matter if only 100 tickets make it to the real fans, just as long as they are distributed fairly. I don't think all the tickets going to the travel clubs is fair. If you don't travel by bus you had no chance of going to Norwich. How can that be right??
I know there will be people on the buses who will defend the current system, but an impartial observer would say that it's not fair.
Thu Oct 17, 2013 6:36 pm
In recent years I feel we have been pretty fair with the way tickets have been distributed up until recently. I have no arguments against a season ticket who went to six aways last season getting priority for Aston Villa, what I didn't understand was why didn't the club then drop it to five, four aways etc. I found it very unfair that a gold member who had been to two away games this year could have a crack at getting Villa tickets! I went to Bristol, Charlton, Bolton, Wolves and Burnley (as well as being a season ticket holder) last season to be outweighed by a £40 gold member who's been to Fulham and Chelsea!
Thu Oct 17, 2013 6:40 pm
Also subsidising travel is only benefiting people who travel by coach. The club are forgetting exiles, people who travel by train, minibus, car etc. Tickets should be subsidised NOT coach travel.

a gold member can not qualify for Vlla with Chelsea.........you need 6 from last year to qualify Chelsea, so therefore if you go to Chelsea you go to Villa.............not that the figures add up, but eh oh
