Yeah a lot of us have been around during the 80's and 90's when we were mostly playing shit football at some shit football stadiums, so yes some of us are enjoying things like winning the championship and playing premier league football. But we all still love our football club! As for being glory hunters  grow up, we are hardly winning trophies every season

Watch it. If your enjoying things youre a sell out in Tontegs book

How any City fan can enjoy what's currently happening with our football club is beyond me. The only good things about our football club at the moment imo is our manager, players and staff. Our owner, Malaysian board and some of our fans certainly does make supporting us a less enjoyable experience than it should mind.

I think that a lot of Portsmouth Fans would look at us in the premier league and feel quite a lot more envy - regardless of the clubs current situation.

Watched the game earlier - the football was dire, the stadium was in pretty poor condition and the small payment for TV rights is most likely the biggest single payment that either club will get this season - aside from the money they get for selling their best players to keep the club going come summer.

That sounds pretty shit to me

Not true, it's not Tan's money, it's loaned money and until Tan converts the debt to equity, it will always continue to be loaned money (with a 7% interest charge).

Loaned by Tan himself. His money.

A bank wouldnt touch Cardiff City with a barge pole so im sorry but without Tans "loan" we probably wouldnt gave a club to suppirt, we certainly wouldnt be in the Premier League and certainly wouldnt have the players and manager
you are "enjoying".

You're right but other owners could easily loan money the way Tan currently is if they're rich enough. Obviously, we will just have to wait and see if Tan keeps his promise of converting the debt to equity. Rebrand aside, I had to accept Tan was being a very good owner, but my opinion has completely changed over the shocking news this week.

Yes there was a queue of mega rich owners the length of Sloper Road looking to invest in us why did we go and pick this idiot eh?

Obviously we didn't have a queue so we had no option but to pick Tan. Hopefully now we are in the Premier League, we will be able to attract more honourable owners to our club in the future if Tan leaves.

Having watched my first City game in 79 and getting my first Season Ticket in 88 I've got to say that fans who want to see us return to what used to be Division 4 must have rocks in their head. How any fan would like to watch players of the ability of Cameron Toshack, Jeff Chandler and Jimmy Rollo in front of measly gates of 3k,instead of the great players we have now in front of 27k +mystifies me. Those days were shite, getting beat 7-2 at home to Cambridge and 5-0 to Maidstone still give me nightmares. These are great days on the pitch, Pompey fans would love to swap with us, whatever they might say otherwise.

That's your opinion. Personally for me, my favourite ever period supporting City was the Eddie May era, and we were in the bottom division of the football league back then. As much as I love Malky and our team who always give their all, I would rather go back to experience the Eddie May era again anytime over what we are currently experiencing now.

I've watched us since 1989 and believe me it was far less enjoyable than it is now. Until Sam came along and we started climbing the leagues we were absolute garbage.
People harp on about the Eddie May days like they were similar to the shankly or alex ferguson era's. The fact is that we had ONE really good year under Eddie May, yes it was a great season but honestly the football was still pretty shit. I loved Phil Stant with a passion, but the truth is that he probably wouldn't even get near our development team now!

What's so fun supporting a team in decline/in a league where they're bigger than? You'd be happy playing the likes of Wimbledon, Exeter and Hartlepool etc when a city of this size has the possibility for this team to have crowds of 40k, playing consistent PL football? :sleepy2:

I would rather that if it meant we were back in blue, yes.

Yeah that was a great season, but that's all it was, one season. You can say the same about the Frankie Burrows team of 88. Following those seasons the teams were ripped apart and we struggled. The majority of our seasons in the lower leagues were total and utter dross and that's a fact!

I long for the day>>>
I can stand on a terrace again with my pals...
We play in blue with a simple yellow stripe down the side of the kit.......

Believe it or not this is what football was like.......and I loved it.....and I still do

The Premiership>>>>

Having to remember how to say our new players names and remembering what country they come from....
Sitting in a seat next to someone I don't know and only talks about the famous players who are playing against us...
Worrying about qualifying for an away ticket and being forced to travel on a bus for 16 hours to the midlands......
Who owns the shares.....
Sky Money.....
Debt......

Of course the premiership was our dream but this is as plastic as it gets......
This is my view on football......

That's where we differ. I started watching us the same time as you and it's not all about success or the quality of football for me. It's about feeling a part of your football club, having a good day out, having the feeling of local pride and having a passionate, emotional connection to your team however shit we might be.

During the Eddie May days, I watched us all united as one, not divided in separate red/blue groups fighting amongst ourselves. I was one of the junior Bluebirds being allowed into games for only a quid, which really made me feel a part of my local club. We had a manager I was proud of and I was watching players who I was proud of because they gave their all for us. The following season we struggled, but however shit we were and however much I was taken the piss out of in school for supporting "rubbish" Cardiff City, they were my local team who I was proud of.

Unfortunately, I feel differently these days. I am slightly embarrassed being a Cardiff fan because of our ridiculous rebrand and what Tan is doing to our club. Our promotion last season and our Premier League experience so far would have been much more enjoyable for me if we played under our proper identity. I am still enjoying it and I could never give up away days (Fulham recently was one of my favourite away trips ever!), but I'm not enjoying it as much as I should be as the passionate emotional connection I once had is not there like it used to be.

It's easy to talk like that when you haven't had to drag yourself along week in week out.
The truth is, many who come on here telling you how great it was would walk away from the bob bank after losing 2-0 to the mighty Bury or Mansfield and say 'f**k this I'm not coming back next week!'

The Eddie May days are viewed through rose tinteds as well.

Yes we had that one great season and the City giant killing the following year but as Gwyn said earlier it didnt take long for the fans to turn on Eddie and Ricky Wright. Not so united when the results went against us.
