Of course Mr Magic you could try and read a post properly....

It's a song that was sung by welsh coal miners during the 1926 mining strike.

Valley miners stayed out longer than any other group.

IT IS SUNG AS HOMAGE TO THOSE MINERS....

Despite the fact that many who sing don't know its origins ....

The most famous club song on the planet is possibly you'll never walk alone (Liverpool & Celtic)
This song was being sung by fans at Cardiff FOURTY YEARS previous to this chant being adopted by the two mentioned clubs.

I'll Be There is one of the oldest football chants in the world...

Ok so it has nothing to do with football then?

Which is what I asked.

Can you name a song that is a known and famous football chant that's origins start with football?

Oh because Hymns and Arias have such strong football links.

From what I can gather, many of the South Wales miners were also City fans, so adopted this song for the games too.

It's a song sung by passionate football fans at football matches. Traditionally it links the club to the community which supports it. It's got everything to do with football :ayatollah:

Completely different discussion all together.

I would argue that not many people outside of cardiff would know anything about this song and/or your connection with it. Ive never heard you sing it, never seen it on your shirt, never seen it tattooed on fans etc etc the only place ive seen it on is at the bottom of posters such as this. To me it seems more of an advertising slogan rather than a chant with deep rooted passion connected with your club... If it was then you wouldnt be desperately trying to hand out song sheets and campaigns to make everybody learn the Men of Harlech words and have that as "your song".

So i simply asked what it has to do with football. It seems "nothing" is the answer ive recieved and the answer I was probably expecting. I dont know why it caused such a clamour for a slanging match.

What?

Where have i said it does?

I would be asking similar questions if Swansea did an advertising campaign with the words "hymns and arias" on the bottom. Ive never heard anybody associate this song with you before and simply asked what it has to do with football. You simply had to say "nothing" rather than try to point score on issues i havent even discussed.

Well that's strange as Cardiff fans have been singing it for many many years... "With my little pick and shovel I'll be there."

It has nothing to do with football itself, you appear to be using that as a criticism... Apologies if not, but your wording is hinting at it.

As I say, what songs do actually have a link to football? Not many.

Im not using at a criticism. Ive never heard this song or heard it have any relevance to you - so was just asking. Its obviously not a highly regarded club anthem as if it were otherwise you guys wouldn't be trying to adopt another.

But as ive said previously, i wish i hadn't bothered now.

It is a club anthem & one that has been sung at the club for decades. :thumbright:

Obviously it's highly regarded as the club use it on tickets, cards, all media.

Well ive never heard it.

That was my point however, it seems to be more an advertising slogan than a highly regarded fans club anthem. Do you sing it every game?

Why can't it be highly regarded if the club are using it? :?

Yes, it is sung every game.

My reason for it not being highly regarded was the fact i was under the impression that it wasn't sang often (im still yet to hear a rendition after many derbies and many matches watching you on the telly) and the fact that it seems the fans are trying to get a new "club anthem" with many campaigns for Men of Harlech... Thus enquired whether the club are using it for marketing purposes rather than it being a passionate connection with your club.

If its sang at every game then fair enough i have my answer, i will be listening out for it.

It's our chant and we wouldn't expect you to like it....

We don't sing rugby songs, but we don't judge you for singing them....
