They were told by the club what to sing and to go and sing for the Geordies

Yesterday was not a good day. New that Toon were going to come looking for it as Pardew's neck was on the line. Stewards were terrible. Telling our fans to stop reacting to a small minority of their fans who were scaring 8 year olds in the FS whilst letting the away continue to do it. And reading other posts, helping to kill off any atmosphere in the Canton and Ninian. And then 2 down at HT, a fecking choir bowls up and starts serenading the away. My jaw dropped in embarrassed disbelief. They may have well had sheep-dog trials on the pitch to complete the bollocks. I'm expecting Max Boyce and a lava-bread recipe workshop for the Arsenal game. Sort it out.

I personally couldn't give a shit if they come and come again.... We are a football team, not a bloody tourist board.
What they did yesterday was shambolic... Serenading and welcoming away fans, whilst stewards shout in the faces of supporters for daring to stand for a corner in Ninian stand yesterday.

What about making Cardiff fans feel welcome ? Whoever organised that choir should be sacked.

This fuss about the choir is a load of shit. The only thing that bothered me was that our fans couldn't be arsed singing apart from for 15 mins in the second half.
The last 10 mins was like a morgue even in the Canton. And when 4 mins of injury time was announced there was no roar of encouragement just indifference.
After Fulham where our fans were electric it was pathetic. Instead of picking on the choir try singing yourselves you miserable sods.

Agreed Chief it was an embarrassing day for most Cardiff Cith Fans yesterday. Someone said what next serenade the Jacks with Hymms and Arias well it would not suprise me at all.

completely understand what you are saying, but imo they did spoil the normal men of harlech at the start of the game. however, we were still quiet 45 minutes later!

I'd rather see dancing dragons than that poxy choir singing to the away fans again!!

What they are doing is tapping into the perception that people have of Cardiff. We are seen as a vibrant, upcoming city with one of the best nightlifes in the UK. Our city has a fantastic reputation now, far better than what it was 20 years ago. We are growing and we will be one of the top cities to live in within a decade.
The club are welcoming away fans down here by giving them all these perks so they will spend more money in the stadium getting pissed up and make a weekend of it the next time the come down. It's ridiculous because we aren't here to promote Cardiff, let the Welsh rugby team do that.

Listening to that choir I thought I was at a bloody funeral!
Morose & depressing are words that come to mind. I wish I knew who's decision it was to set that tone just before the game.

They done there bit before the game now p*ss off and watch the game.

That's the point of the whole debate you dullard.

I was more concerned at the first half performance than the half time entertainment. Really, who gives a f**k?
Booing a male voice choir, f**k me is that what it's come to these days?
Mon Oct 07, 2013 8:26 am
I felt it was a little unusual to have a male voice choir there - that said it was the Treorchy, so fair play. The choice of songs could have been a bit different, and I agree that having them there changed the atmosphere before the match.
My preference is for upbeat music before the match, get everyone going, then Men of Harlech with the words in sync with the music.
Singing to the away crowd at half time - no problem with that.
As for other comments about the choir - what they were represent to me is part of my culture as a Welshman and I would not criticise them, ever. Those songs are not "rugby" songs, they are our songs as Welsh people.
The fact that the staging was questionable is not their fault.

My point is that playing that type of music before the match affected the atmosphere which is so important to our home games.
I did not boo the choir as it wasn't their fault but the fact that it was so depressing just before ko & that Men Of Harlech wasn't played which usually gets the crowd on a high right from the start was very significant IMO.

I appreciate that mate, but some of the other responses are playground stuff though.
The Canton was pretty loud from where I was and there was a decent atmosphere coming from there until the second goal went in. I was in the Grandstand at the family end and hardly heard a peep from the geordies throughout such was the noise from the rest of the stadium.

I work with a member of the Treorchy male voice choir, he asked me what was going on at the stadium and explained that he' along with the rest of the Choir had been Booed off to hostile fans. I personally couldn't say anything to him as i'd missed it and he explained that he was due to have a debrief on the whole thing that evening (Monday 7th October) and would tell me more about it. after he knows. This is what he told me:
"It was at the request of Cardiff City that they sing to the away fans and it was also Cardiff City who picked the songs and when to sing them, I left that stadium embarrassed and a little afraid due to the sheer hostility shown to us in the Choir but nowhere near as scared as some of the other aging people who were left traumatized by the whole debacle."
I apologized obviously and tried to put into context the situation regarding the home supporters who were trailing Two nil and were furious that the Choir went over and raised the morale of the away fans, sung a song for them and then sung a rugby associated anthem and one that was also associated with The Jacks which added fuel to the already ablaze fire.
Personally I believe that it was the decision makers at the Club that should have had the hostility pointed in their direction and the Choir should have left with their heads held high as their performance was a good one regardless of the circumstances. Treorchy Male Voice Choir are one of the worlds most recognized Choirs and the damage done to them by our club is massive. I think the least the club owes them is a chance to redeem themselves to the home support and lets not forget that the majority of these songsters are Cardiff City fans themselves and have been for alot longer than my 35 + years following Cardiff City. I would go as far as to say that they should in some way be compensated by our club for damaged reputation but im not gonna expect everyone to agree with this as a Choir may mean nothing to them.
What I can say though is.....Old men walked off that stadium in fear and that surely can not be correct.
Lets hope we get them back, They are advised correctly in what song to sing and we give them every chance to feel good about the team that they want to sing for and support. Lets hope too that next time they leave to a standing ovation and rapturous applause.
Have our club lost touch with it's fans?
With that shambles of an episode it's starting to look like it.

No one was angry with the choir. They just do what they are told by the dictaros running our club. Most booed in shock

I agree but that obviously didnt come accross very well when you consider that the choir had Wanker signs waved at them and jeers of "f**k off"
I dont think they see it that way themselves.
