Not a big deal, unless of course some people feels it's a bit too close to the truth.

 I'm really disappointed that any fans have 'accepted' or endorsed the rebrand (and lots have tbf) but do I think they've sold their souls?? I don't think anyone can physically sell something as intangible as a soul.

I'm glad you disagree with Bu on this.
maybe we'll see you running Bu one day.

I think that Sian and the committee are for the most part doing a fantastic job. They have my full backing and I genuinely can't see why anybody would seriously get hot under the collar at a statement like the one being discussed.

I've read many of his most recent posts on here and they've all been sensible posts, which would have gone down well IMO with people who may have been standing on the fence!

However, I saw 3 of our fans wearing the same "Don't have to sell my soul" logos on white tee shirts after the Man City match in Leckwith, where it irked some of our other fans, who weren't even wearing anything red.

IMO, By wearing or carrying something with the "Don't have to sell my soul" logo on, is inferring that any of our fans that don't go along with BU's ethos, is a sell out and is going to cause a lot more discord!

Not a good decision in my book!

Buying a TShirt means you haven't sold your sole, cmon in seriously.
If you go to a game your the same as anyone else in the ground.

One could take the counter argument that supporters of rival clubs DO think and frequently suggest that Cardiff City fans have 'sold their soul.'

Now, what better way of showing your defiance (peacefully) by wearing a badge or tee shirt or whatever with the statement 'I don't have to sell my soul' on it?

ie, meaning that Cardiff may be red but we (the supporters) are still blue and haven't bought into Tans rebrand.

It's all about interpretations as far as I can see.

I know you didn't say it, but it certainly sounded like you were inferring that people had sold their soul, apologies if you didn't mean it, but people are free to choose to do what they want IMO, and if they don't find BU's ethos appealing, then they have a right to snub them!

Agreed, but the point I was making, is that the logo is going to alienate all the people, that BU are supposed to be trying to get onboard!

Re: Bluebirds unite shop

Wed Oct 02, 2013 6:45 pm

Whilst I like the t-shirt, I can see why it would alienate a lot of the fans who are unsure of BU.

Not the slogan I would have used personally, but those getting more worked up over this didn't get worked up over the colour change at all & that's daft.

You are right with your interpretations statement Alfie, but I can't see why any Cardiff fan should be worried or embarrassed by what any other team's fans are saying about us, as we were never bothered about them before!

IMO, the fight to get blue back is going to be seriously hampered by the logo we've discussed, which I think is a pity, considering all the other merchandise that is on sale, appears to be something that a lot of our fan base might consider buying otherwise!

It would be a wise move if Bu dropped the sell your soul slogan if they don't want to alienate potential new members

Of course people have their right to snub BU and inevitably they won't please all of the people all of the time but, in my opinion, they've got an awful lot more right than they've got wrong.

I would urge anyone who has any desire to see our traditional home colours restored one day, to get along to a BU event and see for themselves. The people running the organisation are dedicated and passionate. I have been hugely impressed with the real integrity of those leading BU.

Whatever way we look at it, the manner in which the rebrand was executed (and continues to be executed at Cardiff City) is clumsy and pretty disrespectful to an established football club and it's supporters.

We have an owner who is (still) I believe going against the wishes of the majority by insisting the club play in red. Likewise, through accident or design, Vincent Tan is persisting in trying to eradicate the clubs traditional identity - frankly - by stealth.

BU are, in difficult circumstances, trying to peacefully oppose Tans cavalier behaviour. They are certainly not the bad guys in this whole sorry saga.

Playing devils advocate to a degree but BU have to have a broad appeal - they need to appeal to those fervently anti the rebrand - boycotters etc (I know plenty of people who find their stance too weak!) all the way through to existing season ticket holders who are mildly frustrated at the rebrand and would ideally prefer to see blue.

BU is a broad church (it was always going to be so). My advice would be to just buy the BU gear with the message that resonates for you personally.

To reiterate an earlier point, I would recommend all Cardiff City fans who favour blue to actually attend some BU meetings and offer opinion and see for themselves. I think people will be pleasantly surprised

Fair play to Bluebirds Unite for what they are doing and big respect to the businesses for their support.

In my opinion it's a massive risk for those established businesses as they are clearly violating intellectual property by using the Bluebird on merchandise and could land themselves in a lot of trouble.

They must be really passionate about the Bluebirds Unite cause, to risk jeopardising their businesses.
