Health issues. The best part is that Halloween is an imported load of crap from the yanks. have fun

i dont find the costumes offensive in any way,i do think the description of the product leaves a lot to be desired.....my children used to dress up as witches......ment nothing then to me and still doesnt.. :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Think you'll find I have no problem with that and have said so on numinous occasions on here and lets not deviate from the main discussion please

Got to agree with you on this subject

It's only the minority perception that causes outrage and it seems that the minority always get their way in the politically correct world of the PC brigade.

All I am saying is I work with people with M. Health issues and anything that portrays in a bad light doesn't help with the perception of them being mad/crazy

Your a good man. I have to go now as the police are in hot pursuit as they have not bought my 'Pistachio-Nut Japs-Eye Burqa' cover story and its very cold. How did I get here? Right, I'm off.

Many Thanks

Think before you send your children out in costumes as they may offend people

Why do they describe exactly what they are?

The costumes arent a problem, selling them isnt a problem

The psycho ward one is clearly a make up of silence of the lambs,I havent got a problem with silence of the lambs and I dont have a problem with people dressing up as characters of a film. The name of the costume is lazy marketing and in that laziness has created a lot of offence. Oh and many patients who suffer psychosis have taken offence to it.

The second one Mental Patient is just idiotic where they came up with that name from I dont know how they came up with I dont want to know. Mad scientist would have been fine evil doctor they are just off the top of my head. Again its lazy marketing with no foresight.

A few people have asked me about this today and asked whats the fuss all about, ive said how would this country react if a supermarket released a cancer patient costume for halloween? answer I got was you couldnt do that!!! So I asked why is it acceptable to mock one health issue and not another.

One night of the year every night of the year to make fun of someones mis-fortune is never acceptable in my eyes.

everybody has mental health to mock people with poor mental health is as low as laughing at a cancer sufferer.

It's the terminology used! Why put such things on them? Anyone with once of sense would know it would cause uproar from mental health charities!!

Come on mate it's once a year and a bit of fun, lighten up fella

If you don't find that offensive, then there really is something wrong with you

No I don't find it offensive and find it funny to be honest. What are you going to do on Halloween night walk the streets telling everyone wearing a costume that you find it offensive and to take it off or you'll report it to the killjoys? What joy you'll be.

At least bluebird58 is a killjoy for one night. You sound a complete half wit every day of the year. It's wrong, you just don't understand

I think Asda and Tesco have played a blinder here and all the people who work with or suffer from mental health should thank them. Its brought the lack of funds and all the other issues to the top of the media agenda again.Would cost all the mental health agencies millions to get this kind of exposure. And Asda and tesco both know that bad publicity is better than no publicity.
