Agreed!!!!!
Also agree - Gunnarsson is nowhere near PL standard. I thought he only got a game because of his long throw, and he can't do that now. Get-rid-arsson!!!

Don't rate him highly but is a real engine.
Some games I understand why he comes on but sometimes he is brought on into a game where he is not needed.

Cowie is absolute world class. Yet another thread proving the delusion of our fan base.

Yes, Gunnarsson was woeful against Man City, he only scored the first goal and he is only captain of an Iceland team on the verge of qualifying for the world cup afterall! Gunnarsson had an off day, it can happen to anyone and Jordon Mutch should have come on for him. Mutch would have given us a solid presence in the middle and his physical style of play, tough tackling and midfield drive would have unsettled Spurs in my opinion.
Cowie on for Bellamy was the correct choice. Against superior teams, we need players who can put in a shift, but most importantly have players who have the quality to make the correct choises and keep possession while under pressure. Cowie is very good at this and his energy up and down the right helped take some of the pressure off. As already said in this thread, Cowie was part of some lovely passing moves to open Spurs up. Lets face it, if Noone came on instead of Cowie against that quality, Noone would have continually lost the ball.

im getting more and more respect for what cowie offers with each game. came on and was a big part of our best passage of play. Way ahead of someone like noone at the moment.

IMO it shows a lack of tactical awareness of what's required in the closing moments of a game.
Don Cowie has contributed to Goals in the games he played in. Assist against Man City and another assist for Whittingham at Hull when we was also 1-0 down!
We lost to Tottenham not because of this decision but Spurs are a better team and deserved the win.
