Thats because Jay is currently not at a club and is more likely to be lacing Rudy's than anything.

Just because Rudy is playing for a Premier League team, it doesn't mean he's automatically good enough for the Premier League. By your logic, you must think that Bothroyd was a Premier League standard player a year ago. Simon Moore signed for us from a League One side, does that make him good enough for the Premier League? Not yet. Does that make him better than say Kasper Schmeichel? No.

There was hype over Bothroyd in the past. Not anymore. I haven't seen anyone "hyping" over him. Hence why I was reminding you that the question was Bothroyd or Rudy, everyone knows they're both shit.

Bothroyd used to miss hatfulls of chances during games before slamming one in from 20 yards . He spent most of his time on the floor either through getting put there by a defender beating him in the air or just because of his lazy / moaning attitude towards the game .
He very rarely chased balls into the corners and moaned if balls Were not put directly into his feet when all he would do as soon as he got it was pass backwards into our midfield .

Personally I think the strikers who played with him mainly chopra made him look good by doing most of the work for him and dragging defenders all over the pitch .

Rudy is raw but obviously talented . Never shirks a challenge and allways seems to give everything when on the pitch . Has good feet for a big man and wins everything in the air even if his head is like a 50 pence piece

Rudy has improved but still isn't good enough. Even my Mrs said 'who the hell is that tall one he's useless' and she mnows bugger all about football. Bothroyd has had his time and blew it, he's not gking to change now, pity, he was one of the most talented players I've ever seen in a city shirt, just didn't apply himself and never has. Rudy is a nuisance but I'd be looking for a decent target man in January to back up AC. Lambert would do nicely.

Just been chatting about Jay Bothroyd to a mate and we were discussing whether Bothroyd could be a good signing for us.

I know some like him and some think he is too lazy, so I am going to pose a question.

Jay Bothroyd or Rudy Gestede?

Which would you have in the Premier League for City.

Gestede works hard and Bothroyd has the quality.

Bothroyd every time for me.

Met Jay quite a few times travelling back to London after away games, not alone, several other members of the old 1927 club did same. A very nice bloke to be honest, always had time for a chat about the game, photos, etc. I was quite surprised as he appeared to be a bit arrogant on the pitch but off it, great bloke. Yes, we did ask about Dave Jones and lack of tactics, but he was totally professional in that respect and would not discuss at all. I'd have him back, think he'd do really well under Malky.

Rudy for me, Bothroyd has had his best days.

Jay is a much better player.

Id stick with Rudy for the simple fact both would be bit part players, I wouldnt see either getting much game time at all. So dont think Jay stropping around the place would be ideal.

Last season tho Jay easy as he would have started.

Malky has one stick - Not playing you, ask Etian. It would be a pointless signing.

I doubt he would pass the heart rate monitored training sessions- This is not Jones's sessions nowadays.

I firmly believe Rudy would run head first into a brick wall if Malky told him, Jay .......... Well lets leave it at that

No doubt in my mind that Bothroyd is a higher quality player but his attitude after winning that cap for England was shocking. Just sompletley gave up. If he was on low wages then consider signing him and playing him in cup competitions to prove he's good enough for a place in the revised 25 man squad in january.

From what I have seen of us this season I would go for Bothroyd.

We are still playing the high ball up front especially at the end of games. Campbell is having the job of winning the ariel threat. Bothroyd would be ideal for this coming of the bench.

Also Bothroyd could hold the ball up which would be ideal to see games out. Rudy has shown none of these characteristics.

I would give Bothroyd a season more.

Agreed - he just didn't look interested in the latter part of that season. I remember him bottling out of that one v one with the Reading keeper in the play off semi 2nd leg...

Rudy has a better attitude and is willing to work hard and learn Bothroyd was decent but a lazy big shithouse..
Plus Rudy is our player so will stick up for him and any of our squad over some billy big bollocks who doesnt play for us anymore
