Re: ' Another Defeat for Wales & So Whats next Coleman? '

As I was prepping for some work in the week, I got distracted when between the two books I was reaching for on the bookshelf, nestled betwixt was the Wales v Montenegro programme. Picking it up it reminded me of why I put it there. To remind me of a night when I saw my country's team galvanise just before half-time and saying to my son, "remember this moment, something special has just happened. In the future, you will be able to say "I was there". The following Tuesday I watched us play England at Wembley and although we lost, England were on the backfoot throughout the whole game and visibly nervous about any play we put together. It felt we were on the verge of something great. I worked out of my London office next day and all the complementary talk was of Wales incredible performance and of the positive future of Welsh football, what with the City striding forward and the JB's doing well. Prior to the Montenegro game, we had appeared lacklustre and fans dismissive of our future as usual. Of course, ultimately, the game is down to the players performance as a team to get the results. But the galvanisation as a team was of course down to the manager and in this case, possibly the greatest Wales manager we would ever see and will sadly never see. So I'll be at the CCS on Tuesday. The football maybe of course may not be good but I believe in supporting my country, just like I have supported City since the late '70's, through thick and thin. Speedo's (R.I.P. Sir) legacy for me proved that the key was under the right framework i.e manager, Wales can compete and play football that is exciting to watch and gets results. For a number of years, we've had quality individual players that made for a potentially good squad but Speed made a potentially good squad into a good team. Gold Dust. I also think the loss of Dutch Ray was a huge mistake, as I like his way - he seemed to offer an echo of what Gary had brought to the set-up. Speedo is was unique and irreplaceable but it again showed to me that with the right leadership, we can be country with a football team to be very proud of. The FAW needs an immediate and radical overhaul - just see what Greg Dyke is planning for England. So I'll be there, for City and for Wales. :ayatollah:

I'm not surprised by the loss, his recent record for Wales is OK but performances have been lackluster, Bale saved us a few occasions. With the players we have we are under performing.

I don't think he is a good manager and the fact the fan are looking to extend his contract when so close to the bottom of the group.

FAW need a huge overhaul.

Of course, the FAW need to take a good look at themselves - what is the fascination with having a Welsh manager when none of them are any good? People are calling for Pulis, but we all know what his football is like.

I'd question having the likes of Gunter at RB when Matthews is twice the player he is. Also, when we've got the likes of Ricketts and Vaughan still in the side etc, we'll always be on the back foot. Gabbidon was on the bench, when I'd have played him ahead of Ricketts. Also, I'd rather play a left footed player on the right than have Vaughan out there.

What happened to Speedy was tragic and totally unforeseen, but Coleman was a crap manager before Wales took him on - we've regressed as a national team.

But Vaughan was not playing on the right :?

You can have the best manager in the world, but you can't polish a turd!!!!!

Our home teams are not good enough anymore, how many of our nationals play in the Spanish, Italian Leagues these days, Hmmmm not many.

I agree Wales have a few very good players just now, and the most expensive player in the world.

But we need to realise, we are no world beaters any more and have no right to beat anyone. :old:

Thoughts?

How many players who play for the home nations play abroad? Not many :? Please do not think we are alone in that aspect!

Just finished reading Bellamy 's book and both him and speed agreed any captain should be born in Wales.

The answer to that question is pretty simple.

Why bring an unfit Bale on when the pitch was in a terrible state and the Macedonian players were going in very hard on Ramsey? Had he came on and got an injury, we would have infuriated Real Madrid and we could kiss Bale goodbye for the foreseeable future.

So we should lose games to keep Real Madrid happy?

No, we shouldn't have risked him for the reasons I've already stated, unless we want to see Bale pick up random phantom injuries whenever the international period comes around.

Besides, Coleman said that Bale rolled him ankle when having a wee kickabout on the pitch, so that answers questions as to why he didn't get on.

So why have him on the bench?

Does it matter? Its not like we had anyone else to replace him with of any note.

For what ts worth i can see why. Just the mere fact he was on the bench will tell any tactical minded opposition coach to not make any attacking substitutions, an attacker for a defender with bale poised to come on is madness.

Everyone talking about Bale, since when has Adam Matthews been a winger? He was totally out of sort!

They should have sent the passport and left Coleman behind!!

Like I said, I didn't see the game - they've done that with Vaughan before though.
