Im a non smoker by the way but just very open minded. If I was a smoker I would be annoyed by these totalitarian movements.

I'm driving the night Megabus from Aberdeen to Edinburgh (Last Service bus other than Sleeper service to London)
And I'm constantly having to lock the toilet door because people use it as a Smoking room.

The coach would take 2 Mins approximately to be engulfed from a single open flame.

How would any of us feel if we knew someone on a coach that went up in flames because someone couldn't curb there cravings....

I'm not a smoker, think its disgusting. Some people though are acting like drama queens though, if you don't like it, don't smoke it. I know some people who smoke can be irritating as some people have stated, but not everyone is like that. On the subject of banning - never going to happen, it's such a big money maker for this country, same with alcohol, that's what separates them to some rather harmless but illegal drugs

What if the driver of any vehicle has a seizure and wraps up into a ditch on the side of the motorway and the coach blows up? Anything could happen, you never know.

All hypothetical. Maybe we should make every single driver have a mental and physical test. Wouldn't want someone with slow reactions getting below the wheel now would we?

I don't want to breath in other people's smoke ,that's what pisses me off the most. The smokers don't seem to care who breathes it in :!:

Don't associate with or go near smokers then. I don't want to get run over by a car...do you know what I do to avoid it? I don't walk on or socialise on motorways. It's called common sense, try it some time.

Well no it's not hypothetical ... I have had to lock the Toilet door every night this week due to people smoking on the bus..
As for the Medical jibes, You must by law!!! Obtain a satisfactory medical to obtain a PCV license and you are (if of a certain age) to update your medical file every few years....

I have had 3 Medicals since I got my PCV in 2005.

Here is a pic of a Megabus on the M62. It took two minutes for the while coach to be engulfed... Two minutes!!
Now although it wasn't a cigarette that was the cause of the fire,it does highlight the effect of an open flame,Spark or unexpected ignition on any vehicle.

Why would anyone want to (Scuse the pun) Add fuel to a potential fire?
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Yes, on a bus I can see where you are coming from as its a machine with flammable fuels inside. The people on here though aren't talking about buses in particular, they're just getting their knickers in a twist over every little thing.

Long before the smoking ban come into play, there was already company policies on coaches as per your example, that banned smoking on coaches etc. same with buses.

I think that was fine however I see no problem with people who want to smoke in pubs etc. People moan about the pubs struggling 'oh my its sad and horrible how pubs are closing down' or 'there's another pub gone' etc. but that's one of the causative factors of the ban.

Smokers would rather buy a few cans, invite fellow smokers who are friends around and drink and smoke in the comfort of their own home instead of being dictated to what they can and cant do in a pub.

Again I'm inclined to disagree... Smaller pubs have been struggling for years now. The super chains (Weatherspoons etc) have opened up pubs thy offer cheaper drink and food... Smoking has had an affect yes but it's not solely responsible .. People go out for a fag and now more people go in simply because of the non smoking policy.

Smaller pubs simply cannot meet the competition .

the Electronic cigarettes are superb, helped so many people quit tobacco that could never do it with gum or patches, myself included. vaping is not harmful to people around you, there is no smoke that hangs around like fag smoke

should be giving them out to people who want to quit not banning them

Smoking is great as a way of relieving stress for some. Who are you to judge what is a necessity and what isn't? For some, neither is a vehicle.

If you wanna go down that road you may as well ban alcohol too-costs the tax payer via the NHS more than the fags.

Re: the anti-smoking gestapo

Banning electric fags makes no sense. I smoked for 8-10 years. And I gave up 6months ago purely because 2 months on the electrics worked. I tried to give up loads in the past, and they're what worked for me.
I know lots of people who've successfully quit using them. So why ban them?

Speaking of smoking.... Was up Celtic manor today and out of all the fuckers I could have in the group behind, we ended up with Alan Tate and Gary monk. Monk sparked up a fag for himself on the first tee! True athlete! That other cock Tate is supposed to be injurred but walked 18 holes no prob. Prob safer he did after his golf buggy incident!

We are literally one step away from sending 10 million people away to death camps and instigating a war which will cause years of suffering, culminating in the deployment of atomic weapons. MORE LIKE NAZI GERMANY EVERY DAY. GIVE US OUR FAGS BACK! NO SURRENDER!!!!

What an idiotic post comparing a ban on public smoking to nazi Germany.

Nothing against smoking or smokers (that's their lifestyle choice) but seeing pavements full of discarded dog ends pisses me off, some street corners look a mess.

Vehicles are essential??? Listen to yourself?

If vehicles are essential how did the human race survive before they were invented?

The stupidity of some people absolutely amazes me at times!

20 months as a non smoker kicked a 30 a day habit best thing I ever did few years time smokers will be in the minority im glad they band it as I don't want to breath your smoke..

Re: the anti-smoking gestapo

Personally, I have been smoking Cigars since I was 17 years of age - Never ever touched a cigarette in my life and as many of you may not know, cigar and pipe smokers do not inhale the smoke (although i will admit that a certain amount would still be breathed in). I smoke for the taste and aroma of the tobacco , much like the old red Indians of North America. I find that It relaxes me and in general people who smoke seem more relaxed and de-stressed than non smokers.

Ex-smokers and people who say they want to give up but can't are, in my opinion, the worst kind of hypocrite of all.

If you like smoking, and it's doing other people no harm, no problem - if you want to smoke great, if you don't great also

Even before the smoking ban was introduced in UK, I would not dream of smoking in an eating place, in a car,in the house, pregnant women, etc, etc - but the open air !! - come on - its just an attack on personal liberty.

I agree with the "dog end" thing , it does look disgusting on the streets.

I would like to state that I really enjoy my cigars and smoke about 2 large ones every day, with a coffee or a beer when socialising or out in the fresh air. In fact you would not believe the amount of people who comment on the lovely aroma that they say reminds them of the old days.

Me personally, I like to smoke my cigars and relax and I shall carry on doing so, no matter what any Lilly livered liberal has to say about it - so stick that in yer pipe and smoke it !!!
