I was and Ninian Park was occasionally brilliant, but much the same as other grounds for the majority of the time in the 70's - just like it was for any other of the five decades I watched us play at the ground.

On an average game yes Ninian Park was just like other grounds, but on the big games, I honestly believe not many grounds could match Ninian Park for the Atmosphere, it was special and I cant even compare our new ground to Ninian Park.
Ive been to 339 grounds and Ninian Park to me on its day was one of the best for atmosphere [/quote]

Yes, as I say Ninian Park was occasionally brilliant and on those nights (because it was usually night matches when it happened), it was one of the most atmospheric grounds I've been in - it was fantastic. However, the atmosphere yesterday was very good and last Sunday it was tremendous - just as good as Ninian Park ever was and this was because , just like at Ninian Park sometimes, a large majority of those present were getting right behind the team.

I wasnt there last week Bob, but everyone I have spoken to said it was right up there with the best  but yesterday I thought was good at times, but over all it was ok for a big big game and a sell out, nothing special.

BLUEBIRD FOR LIFE!!!!!!!! wrote:Makes me laugh all this rose tinted reminiscing of Ninian Park. I've been a regular since the early Eighties and the atmosphere there was just the same as it is at CCS - sometimes excellent, often unremarkable. And it's not surprising as it depends on what's in front if you. Boring game, boring away fans, boring atmosphere.

Some people seem to think Ninian Park was like a Galatasaray v Fenerbahce derby every single game! Utter tosh!

Excellent post,it wasnt always a great atmosphere at NP far from it sometimes CCS is our home now get used to it

Early 2000s ninian park was electic every game.

No it wasn't.

Yeah it was. Your just a kid Barnett and probably vaguely remember 10-12 years ago.

People need to remember we also had some poor atmospheres for pretty big league games at Ninian Park, especially in the last few season.
Nothing will ever be at Leeds tho :ayatollah:

Cardiff City Stadium has already hosted a string of brilliant games most of which have gone our way. The first ever vs. Scunthorpe 4-0 win, the Bristol City derby 3-1 win, the Leicester series, FA Cup won 4-2 (2 late goals), 2-1 (the famous 9 man victory) PO semi-final won on penalties and the League Cup game when we won another penalty shoot out, Michael Chopra's last minute goal vs. Swansea, the QPR 2-2 draw in April 2011 and never forgetting the Charlton promotion and Football League Trophy awarding game against Bolton in 2013.

Admittedly there have been some terrible results the 0-3 defeats to Reading and Middlesbrough in 2011 spring to mind, but for me CCS is a brilliant place and the theory that some how Ninian Parks bricks and mortar provided for a better atmosphere was completely disproved last Sunday and again yesterday.

Ninian Park will always have a legendary place in football ground history but it is FANS who provide the atmosphere not the stadium.
