There is no justification for this war, just because USA don't like President Assad, it is no excuse to attack Syria. The conflict in Syria is an internal problem, and by USA supporting the opposition, which is made up of Islamic terrorist groups who are already against the West. For them they see it as a holy war against President Assad.

We don't know which sides have been using chemical weapons, its all propaganda. Why should we risk our troops, just to suit USA's foreign policy. When the UN found no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, the war was still never justified and why should British troops risk their lives again.

Its okay to ignore the crimes of what Israel are doing in the West Bank and Gaza; because they're American allies. But when it comes to civilians getting killed in Syria, the USA are up in arms and want to bomb the country.

Even if we provide weapons to the opposition, one day they'll be used on us. I hope President Assad does win the war, because the Syrian rebels are terrorists who need to be stopped.

Are Isreal using nerv gas and naplam to kill innocent people then..?

They're still killing people regardless of what methods they use. Sadly people turn a blind eye regarding the situation of the Palestinians. They're not important enough because they don't have any oil or gas.

No one knows who's been using chemical weapons in Syria, neither do the UN, so how can this potential new conflict be justified.

Yes, we have all of that, but we don't have people being slaughtered on our streets in big numbers.

This may not affect us directly, but as a human being I don't think this is acceptable or should be allowed to continue, do you?

I agree that what is going on is disgusting.

Look at Iraq and Afghanistan-they had bad human rights records before we went in. Now the situation in both countries is ten times worse plus we now have al Qaeda and splinter groups posing security threats to this country.

What people need to bare in mind is, if we intervene militarily (which we are supposed to if negotiations and sanctions fail), it won't be a full blown invasion. It will be naval and air strikes.

If you asked the public to vote on entering Iraq, Afgan or Syria then majority vote with be not to go!

Let's try to find a way to bring peace back to Syria that doesn't involve one million people dying.

As Ive previously stated that is far more justification in my opinion to go into Syria than it ever was to go into Iraq and Afghanistan. Maybe many of you would have a different opinion if you've ever seen the effects of such agents with your own eyes

There's a lot more deaths than sees the media....
What about people being raped kidnapped every week is that not just as bad?
Syria is not our problem no point in getting involved.

You don't need an aircrafts to use chemical weapons, the rebels may have different delivery system (e.g. (land based missiles)

Re: UK and Syria

Thu Aug 29, 2013 10:02 pm

As has been said we dont know who is actually using the chemicals, its already been shown the rebels have done some nasty stuff during this conflict. As much as I want the UK to go in and help the civilian untill we know who are actually the bad guys its best not to intervene

no they dont otherwise the UN would have released an SCR and would give the backing to any coalition that would want to take action or even sent their own peacekeeping force in, as that hasnt happened and neither have the UN weapons inspectors confirmed whether chemical weapons are in the country or who has them, im yet to see any evidence or reason why we should be involved

Adam you should know more than anyone that politics it's not about doing the right thing it's all about who can make the most money! Iraq and Afgan was simply motivated by drugs and oil, if for one second you don't believe the government don't bring drugs into the country then your nuts.
