Er, to take the thread back for a second - yes, Medel had a great game and I look forward to seeing what he can do in future games. I'm sure he'll love the fans here as much as he did in Seville...

What an outstanding player...the guy is a rock. What an achievement by Malky and the rest to attract a player like this, could easily be playing in the top 6 atleast, broke up play on the edge of the box tremendously today, excited to see his performances for the rest of the season, What a day!!!

And i called him within 30 seconds to which he drove to the glasshouse mountains to write out "to annis and co, wish you were here love roathy" and then sent it to me so i can post it on here 1 minute later? yeah ok

Unbelievable player... Sometimes sitting in front of back four, and sometimes just behind back four... Amazingly skilful yet strong as well... I only saw him misplace one pass all day... Did we have a translator on the bench for him? when the other were getting water I saw someone giving him instructions and as I far as I know he speaks no English really

I think it was Martyn Pert doing the touchline translation for Gary - the new head of Sport Science who was on the pre-season trip to Switzerland. He is a fluent Spanish speaker.

I'm not sure what language was being used in the first half when Gary was 'organising' Turner and Caulker, though! I guess it was Spanish or pigeon-English? Either way they seemed to understand what he was saying to them.... and definitely not arguing.
