We need a defender who is willing to be composed in control of the ball and play it out into midfield. If we continue with Turner we are going down. He is the main reason so much pressure is just coming back on us because he lumps it up there and gives away possession.

Im glad someone else has seen that, despite us having a solid defence last year the number of times Turner panicked when the ball was either given to him by Marshall or an outfield player was alarming. Very little confidence when in posession and definately not up to Premier League standard by a long way.

Whittingham was the next player to make the next highest amount of passes, he made 48 in total with an accuracy of 81%.

Get the ball to El Pitbull and let's go Gary Medel la la la :ayatollah:

Funny you mention this. Yet when Leon Britton did even better most claimed it was because he was passing backwards.

Britton passed 74 times in one match and had 100% accuracy if memory serves.

A stat that was omitted was that 47% of his passes went forward. This equates to 28 passes forward.

Therefore almost half of his passes were positive. Not sure how this equates to the legendary Sheffield United failure. Be interesting to compare the 2.

It shows the level of footballing intelligence between the two sets of supporters when cardiff fans assume a pass that isnt forward isnt a positive pass.

In order to play a passing possession game, it is imperative to firstly... Keep possession, and then keep moving the play precisely to lure the opposition out of their rigid formation. There are countless times every match where our passes have forced the opposition out of their designated position to which Leon then switches the play from left to right to our wide man to start the attack down the flanks and exploit the space. Yet because it isnt forward you think its negative, its bizarre.

Leon knocking a 25 yard cross field ball to set up an attack (usually the case) or medel knocking a 5 yard ball to gunnarson who plays it back. And hes the more positive : lol:

Carl,

Biggest problem I see with Medel, is he is too good and fast thinking for the other players around him , his pass and movement and ability to make space is outstanding. I just cant see the other players being on the same level mentally or physically. We need smarter , sharper players with him. With that in mind I think we need at least 3 to 4 more players.

I work in England and On the plus side all the fans of other teams I work with, ie Saints, Spurs, Arsenal ,Chelsea, Liverpool, Man utd etc , are convinced we will stay up. I hope they are right , I was looking at the fixture list again last night and was really struggling to see where our first points are coming from.

But I hope it starts Sunday 1 point , then 3 from Everton and hopefully some confidence and momentum will kick in and we start picking up points.

See you on the coach for Fulham, :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

That rated Gary as our 7th/8th best player. Odd to say the least. Looked one of our best players tbh

Very odd John, I thought Medel was our best player, calm and measured with his passing :ayatollah:

yeh, obviously statistics only show so much and fans subjectively rate players performances and capture things that computers can't, I disagree with a few things for that match, Connolly was not better than John I didn't thing, but over the season the website is pretty handy.
