Think of his dominance against Real Madrid and Leeds (Bremner and Giles).
one of my dads favourite city players, I grew up with the likes of Steve Grapes, Alan Campbell & my all time favourite John Buchanan

Wasn't it Villars who crossed for Brian Clarke's goal v Real Madrid?
As far as I can recall he was a very good but inconsistent.
No it was nigel rees, tony villars scored the eqauliser against crystal palace a few years later, it kept us in the 2nd division and sent palace down.

Yes of course. The Clarke goal sticks in the memory but you have reminded me about the Villars goal which if I remember correctly was on a Wednesday night -a shot into the Canton goal.
Yes it was a wednesday night, a real cliffhanger, with me and my pals all from Cwmbran it was great to see a Cwmbran boy (villars) keep us up

Who's that man in the little flat cap do dah, do dah.
Yeah Villars was a talent when he played for Wales against England at Ninian Emlyn Hughes hit him with a hard tackle early on and he didn't do a thing in the match after that.

Ian Gibson was quality in a time when the opposition could kick lumps out of you and tackles from behind were the norm also the pitches were dreadful . He was my joint favourite player alongside Brian Clark when I started going down the City at 8 years old.

Gibbo was our midfield dynamo in those days but the player that i liked most in those days was Peter King, he had a hammer in either foot and if that goal he scored against Middlesborough was scored now it would be played for ever and a day, has to be the best goal i ever saw.

That goal was the best goal ever scored, Peter King lives in Spain now and he was back in Cardiff last week staying at his mates house on the outskirts of the city, lovely fella, a real gent.
