Absolute horse shit. I've lived there and watched them with 9000 in the championship/2nd div.

They just got 18,000 in league two pal.

1st day of the season, 2000 which were Oxford fans. The support will fade away

So that's 16k in League 2 then, at home.

I can't see their support dropping. It's like a siege mentality there.

Less of arse licking Pompey. I've been on their true blue forum, the vast majority of them hate us and are f*cking hypocrites to go with it. I'm glad their still in business though.

Yep siege mentality, for now, I will stick with my point that 9000 in div 2/championship when I lived there.

Fans stand by their clubs when in crisis...

Pompey, Rangers... Even little old Hearts of Midlothian.

Played St Johnstone today in Perth,Attendance 6,000 odd. 4,000 of which were Hearts fans.

Sorry should have added the question why didn't they average 16000 last season? and yet barry can't see the crowds dropping any time soon.

Well let's just hope that if you are, you pay back some people, let's start with the public purse, £40 million.

Fans were protesting? I don't follow Portsmouth crowds as closely as you do, obviously.

It's a siege mentality, fans altogether & support will remain like that. If they stayed down there a few years, I would say it would drop. Not a sustainable crowd at that level, but for one season I can see it staying like that.

Not many, most would laugh at us. Trust me I know. I had 15 years down there and we were a laughing stock.

Not closely, but I've been there many times in the 90's.

Me to start with, blame the past chairmen and directors not the fans , most of all blame the FA for so called fit and proper testing of dodgy past owners.

Yes, I did say that. Someone suggested by the end of the season the attendances would be poorer & I said I don't think they will be and I can't see it dropping. As I said in another post, if they remain at the same level for years, then they will drop.

Exactly, can't understand this love affair with Pompey fans. Southampton are the big club on the south coast.

No, nobody mentioned a time scale for their support just you. It was mentioned that their support would fade away, however as usual you made up quotes to suit yourself. So not poorer and not by the end of the season, you made that up,it wasn't even suggested.

Pompey v Bristol rovers 26/12/91 attendance 10711. On the traditionally high attendance day, c'mon baz were they all protesting, or have they got traditionally fickle support?

Re: Pompey fans display

Sun Aug 04, 2013 7:11 pm

Just as bad as Swansea but the one eyed bitterness on here by some towards the Jacks means Pompey are seen as something of a success story.

What I will say is the fans who turned out today deserve a club in the top two divisions. They have been screwed over by a succession of owners who have done nothing but come in and chip away at the club bit by bit. Remember it wasn't long ago they were in cup finals and a top 8 premier league side.

I don't know why you keep hounding me, I have told you what I think about it.

What football club hasn't got fickle support? EVERY football club has fickle fans. Only the hardcore remain with a club in the dungeon. I remember the attendances we had late 90s as a kid...

I feel though, that because they have had issues, they are rallying around the club right now... However, should they remain there for a while, it is my opinion that the crowds will drop off.

A bit of trouble in the 10/11 season if I'm not mistaken as well? Scummy fans with a scummy attitude, where the scummers belong

Pompey had no choice but to go into admin and were punished by losing points. Swansea took CVA as a way of clearing debt and because of them points deductions were introduced.

I might be wrong, I thought that was Leicester after the piss takers built a new ground and gained promotion, like I say I could be wrong.

It was because of a number of teams including Leicester but I'll blame the jacks as I'm fed up of hearing how well run they are.

The jacks who brag on about how well run they are probably didn't support them in 2003.
