what gets me ,if they're concerned that much about what colour we play in because of our past identity why don't they go back as far as the early days when we were called riverside and played in brown & yellow.

Erm, because nobody associates Cardiff City with those colours. In fact, Cardiff City, as an entity, have always played in blue, until 2012.

Everyone associates Cardiff with playing in blue & the BLUEbirds should be playing in blue.

We now play in Red, and I think more amd more people will wear or associate with Red as time goes on. It will be a slow and gradual process and will eventually pass the blue, if it hasn't already.

I doubt Tan will change now, especially if people protest or try and make him and that in ten years unfortunately it will be almost all red.....

The answer to it all, is turn up and support the team but in BLUE

Your going to the game, supporting our team, but wearing our True colour

One day we will return to Blue I'm convinced of that. I have estimated before that might take 10 years but there are no guarantees and it could be longer, but it will happen.

I look at Newport County who went bankrupt and remerged as Newport AFC. The new name wasn't universally popular but it served a purpose as the club stabilised itself. 10 years after their inception they reverted back to Newport County (after huge fan pressure) and I believe that is the template for us.

It is that simple. :ayatollah:

Then when ownership changes we can have a more vocal say at that point.

In the meantime keep the blue on show and you never know miracles may happen and Tan may reconsider. Not because he sees our protestations, it will be if the red hasn't had the affect on sales, sponsorship and investment in Malaysia and China. You know he'll say he is doing it for the fans though. ;)

Wayne, your right it really is that simple, we need everyone to do it and every so called reluctant Red should also want to do it

Then when a new owner comes in, we have a more chance of our identity back

I agree it is not that simple but wearing blue is a tradition that I personally couldn't break. Life never ceases to surprise you and may be VT will have a reason to reverse the rebrand but I wouldn't hold my breath on that one.

A new owner is probably the most likely route but again there are no guarantees.

I didn't go today, but seeing the photos I feel sick.

How can Cardiff City supporters embrace the total eradication of our clubs identity?

Re: If the fans are given the choice ?

Doesn't surprise me there was more red there yesterday. It's our first pre-season home friendly against decent Italian opposition, so of course there will be lots of families there with the kids in red shirts. I thought the blue contingent would give it a miss to save up for an away game. I personally went to Hereford instead yesterday and yes I had my blue shirt on! :malky:

Some don't see it as a total eradication of our identity, we are still Cardiff City, we still play in Cardiff, we have a Bluebird on our badge (which must be the ninth badge I remember) we are still nicknamed the Bluebirds.
What we have done is changed our first choice shirt colour to red.

You are deluding yourself in my opinion. Some day soon you'll look around and think 'shit, this isn't my club'.

That's what I increasingly think.

And wearing red IS rejecting our history. Not saying it's not also supporting the team, because it is, but it IS rejecting the club we all knew and love.

I'm sick of it to be honest.

Re: If the fans are given the choice ?

Maybe they are just fans who want to support the club by wearing the current shirt

Let people wear the shirt they want, you call Tan a dictator but want to impose your views on other fans by calling them sell outs and plastics because they dont share the same mindset as you.

You carry on protesting as its what you want to do but dont take pops at fans who wear the red shirts, does you no favours.

Cardiff City is our club and always will be whatever colour we play in.Fans wearing red are just supporting the team, it's nothing to do with history.

OUR club? Don't be so daft. The club is nothing whatsoever to do with us, and that much is obvious.

The club has totally changed mun. Totally, it's difficult for me to associate current Cardiff City with the team I've supported all my life.

I'm really getting increasingly annoyed with what has happened, and it's getting pretty difficult for me to look forward to this season, especially with the level of abuse that City fans who want blue are getting. It really feels like my club has gone.

What makes you think that will happen? In my opinion, the longer we stay red, the less chance we have of ever returning to blue. Which is why I feel that action needs to be taken.

Just my thoughts though & respect your stance.

Why would they change back to blue?

Cardiff City fans don't care about such things, as long as they are in the premier league.

If we suffered a few relegations in the next 5 years, you wouldn't see hardly any red shirts in the stadium. f*cking glory hunters, that's all they are.

People are concered about our "past identity" but only as far back as we can remember. Everyone on this message board probably grew up watching Cardiff City play in blue and that is what fans are fighting for.

Not having a pop, I can see you are passionate about this subject and good for you. But to me what you are saying is that Cardiff City should stay in a time bubble. We should still be at NP, still in Division 4, still top of the hooligan league and of course still Blue.

If that's what you want then fine, but in the same way that you plead to others that the colour is more important than the success, other supporters will see it differently and want success over a reversing of the rebrand.

ATM there is a clear majority who want the club to progress. From your point of view you that is obviously very sad but you need to understand and accept that red is here for the foreseeable future, no matter how much you 'fight'

Firstly you are absolutely correct apart from the fact you wouldn't see many shirts no matter what the colour was. TBH one of the ways that Blue would return very quickly is for us to follow Portsmouth Coventry and Wolves through the trap door into the lower divisions.

But that brings us back to the paradox, would you really want to see Cardiff City fail just so you could push for a return of the blue shirt?

We have had many debates on here about 'proper fans' but surely someone who WANTED CCFC to fail so they could get what they wanted can't possibly claim to be a 'proper fan?' Can they?
