Sorry Barnett but Chuckles mentioned one of my idols, Helguson who is a cult hero here and for his age he was brilliant.

Helguson was excellent & for his lack of height, held the ball up extremely well. He could do things that Rudy can only dream of.. At the arse end of his career too. What a pro.

I was surprised we brought him in but realised he was someone who could be a replacement but with injuries for strikers he stepped in.

A lot of supporters don't respect these kind of strikers who hold the ball up and bring others into play and not a 20+ goal scorer.

He was key in some games and gave it 110%. He was key to Blackburn away and Ipswich. The goal against Hull. A proper workhorse and he was 35? Incredible and too what he done for a team in the Championship to get into the Premier League is respectable.

For his age you wouldn't expect players like him to still be playing and making an impact in the 2nd tier of English Football.

No. Whenever Rudy started it was because he was the last resort (except Velikonja). One one of his rare starts, he was hauled off at half time because he was so poor.

Helguson, over the season, demonstrated that he was the far better player out of the 2. To suggest that Rudy will have any sort of impact in the premiership, is wrong, in my eyes.

The amount of stick he got by people around me was ridiculous. My favourite goal of his was the one where he nearly knocked himself out scoring... Utter dedication and a fantastic professional. It's a shame he wasn't around for the victory parade.

I think Malky does, sometimes injuries force your hand and you have to start the lesser players in the squad. Yes, that's exactly it. Glad you could pick it up eventually.

Rudy is 26 now, 1 year off the 27 years of age I quoted earlier on in this thread. He has 18 months to prove himself in the Premier League and I believe he will do so for multiple reasons. He gets stuck in, he is a quick learner and develops his game well, he has technique and he is awkward and causes problems for defenders. You did not have to be a football expert to realise Rudy had the raw talent and drive to succeed.

May have overhyped him because I felt like he deserved more credit than what he got.. but this is just hilarious to read.
