Caulker & Turner according to Terry Phillips:-

"A rather leaky pre-season up to now has only heightened those concerns, albeit in very early days.

Caulker’s arrival will do much to assuage those clamouring for fresh faces.

He is right-sided and, while much water can still pass under the bridge before Mackay settles on his strongest Premier League starting XI, the new man looks a perfect fit alongside the left-footed Ben Turner in the heart of City’s back four.

Put Andrew Taylor and recent Derby signing John Brayford either side of that pair and you start to have the makings of a rearguard that look equipped to deal with much of what might come its way in the top flight."

So you've picked on someone's view that has Hudson dropped. Can't say I'm too surprised.

And why are people insistent that two right-footed centre-halves can't play together? It's not impossible!

Where has anybody said that two right footed centre halves can't play together? :?

I posted Terry Phillips's viewpoint, as I thought it was relevant and I'd have posted another viewpoint, had I read any other relevant viewpoint!

Terry Phillips has stated that Caulker is right sided, which is the same in Hudson's case!

Clearly one of them has to be comfortable and competent to play on the left side, should Malky favour Caulker & Hudson as the combination!

As I stated earlier in this thread, Turner & Connolly had a couple of run outs together last season, whilst Hudson was out injured and IMO, neither of them showed that they were able to Marshall the back four convincingly!

That being the case, if Caulker is unable to play so well on the left side, then Malky has got a big decision to make!

I'm keeping an open mind about Malky's selection, unlike some on here, who clearly play too much Football Manager etc!

It will be Hudson and Caulker. Hudson's our captain.

Who plays on the left then?

Any of them. Most professional football players are two-footed even if one foot is better than the other and you don't have to be left footed to play on the left. I doubt Malky will drop Hudson.

Most, but not all and there are quite a few who aren't two footed!

I certainly couldn't see Turner or Nugent (had he not gone on loan) playing on the right though and I expect that should Caulker and Hudson be Malky's favoured pairing, which I'm not saying it won't be, then I expect Caulker to be the left sided part of the combination, as I can't see Hudson playing on the left (Only my opinion)! :ayatollah:

No, it's common sense. Most footballers can kick the ball with their weaker as well as their stronger foot
