The post in question that I was replying to stated that we should be worried that we conceded three goals to a non-league side, but then went on to state that 'but surly we should be happy to let them put 3 past us', which makes no sense whatsoever. The post was just a little hypocritical, if you ask me!

I'm sorry if you feel that I'm being sarcastic. I'm not aiming to be mocking, simply asking you whether you will really care about the defence's performance in this game a few months down the line, should we be doing acceptably in the league? Just because I couldn't care less about pre-season performances doesn't mean I can't post, does it? I said I couldn't care less because I really don't give a toss that we conceded any amount of goals in a glorified training session. I'm merely trying to get other people (including you) to realise that it was the team's first game of pre-season and that the lack of the players' lack of 'match fitness' will be evident, no matter who they are playing.

Even before last night we needed at least 4/5 player for a chance of staying up, now I think 6/7.

I wish people would reply to the post instead of the poster on this forum.

I'm not sure what to mak of it to be honest. 90% of pre season games don't represent the final product so I'm not too concerned.

I saw malkys interview tonight and he knows he has to strengthen.
i agree about 8 quality players needed,hopefully we'll see some movement soon.

Yes I honestly believe we need about another 7 players, but thats just my opinion as a fan.

Yes, if I was to get straight to the point, but then I am only a fan, I fear for this team, unless a major overhaul is done, just my opinion.

Completely agree with this, we are no longer up against the likes of Hamill, Kermorgant( ) etc, we are now up against the likes of Suarez, Mata, etc.

Unless we build on what we already have, with some proven, top quality defenders, we will stuggle this season.

So which proven, top quality defenders would you be looking at? Go on, give me some names. It's all well and good moaning at what we don't have, yet no one ever seems to have a name at hand.

We should have been looking at the likes of Bulthius, Janmaat, for a start.

Big gaps between centrebacks. Big gaps between defence and midfield. Bit worrying.

On the other point i hope we dont have half a dozen attention seekers singing blue songs all season like they did last night.

I really don't like hearing that our team 'aren't good enough for the premier league' or will 'just be used as cover'.

I think we are forgetting that this team was number 1 in the Championship from November until the end of the season - which is no mean feat.

Sure they need strengthening just like ANY side needs strengthening, but if we don't manage to land the transfers we want i do not think that this is a team which will sink without trace. The players all play for the club and are hungry for good results - and i think they will manage to get sufficient results to keep us in the premier.

I accept and agree with the opinion that we desperately need cover in defense, but for cover in case of injury's rather than due to the complete lack of quality.

I have complete faith in Malky and the team, they will do us proud this season.
