Of course he is. If he isn't in a higher position then why has he got a representative on the board? You think Malky has a say on board matters. Filou will speak on behalf of Sam Hammam at meetings. His influence may be little in real terms but Tan may actually believe he knows a lot about football and therefore ask for his opinion on footballing matters. If Tan didn't care or want his opinion he'd have offered more money to get rid of him and be done with it. He obviously values Sam in some aspect whether we like it or not.

Because Sam has a 'token' presence on the board with no power you think he's more important?

If you think Malky has more influence than Sam on matters now then you are living on another planet.
Malky did have full control on matters but there is no doubt that Hammam, having a representative on board, will now have a degree of influence on footballing matters. Whether his influence is enough to sway what happens in the market is yet to be seen and only time will tell.
You think Hammam was given a position for fun? No. Tan values his opinion and has said so numerous times. If Hammam is ignored then he will speak out. We know from experience that he is a man who will speak out and say what he feels. You think Tan is going to try and cause a disruption within a business he wishes to aim to profit from? Not on your nelly sunshine.
Just you wait and see the drama unfold before your own very eyes this forthcoming season squire.
