There are enough reasons to have a pop at Celtic without making any more up.

Many of their songs have no place in football and it's ironic that they want to celebrate the IRA and all things Irish when many of them couldn't point to Ireland on a f*cking map.

Okay maybe not 'most of it', I probably exaggerated slightly there because the pitch invasion, smoke bombs etc. is obviously true and there's proof. Like I said I don't think they should be exempt from punishment and like the post above says some of the stuff they chant is bad enough without making up stuff.

I have never defended their overall actions and certainly wouldn't defend some of the things they have done in the past, I am just saying in this case rumours of a certain chant seem to be simply not true, yet I am called a wanker for this?

Club was founded by Irishmen who wanted a club like Hibernian in the west.
They even adopted the Hibernian Colours.
Hibs have certain Elements (like all clubs) but majority of fans are friendly family types.
Cannot say that about Celtic, and whilst you shouldn't judge the entire club based on a certain few hundred fans,the fact that the club does absolutely nothing to prevent these fans representing the club does leave many with no other option but to hate them.

That being said match days at Parkhead are great athmospheres,as are Ibrox.
But my overall opinion is the UK and Scotland in particular would be better off if neither club was included.

Celtic sing some political songs, that's right. Unlike Rangers, who sing songs glorifying butchering of Catholics ("up to our knees in Fenian blood") or tragedies like the Irish Famine. I don't like any of it, I think there's no place in football for that.

Altho I think Celtic should only concentrate on football related songs, the pro -IRA songs are not gloryfying the Provos. That's not meant as an excuse, I dont like those either, BUT, If you know theses songs (and I do), they are trad. Irish Folk songs about the (old) IRA, who fought in the 1916 Easter rising and the Irish war of independence, which lead to the Irish Freestate in 1921. Big difference there, as the old IRA split in the early 70s into IRA and Provisionals (which most just refer to as 'IRA' today).

Finally, as I said: there shouldnt be politics or religion in football. Unf. there is. You get sick basterds everywhere, at every club, no matter if it's Celtic, Rangers or Cardiff City. Just don't shut your eyes and ears and be blind and deaf on the side where you stand.

Celtic are my third most hated team after Bristol City & Swansea, but the above post is very informative and its a shame we don't see more of them.

No and neither were probably anyone from this thread to confirm the chant either. I've looked on Brentford/Celtic forums and they all agree that no such chants were sung, reporters also agree that no such chants were sung and it originated from some guy on twitter claiming to have recorded it. I'm basing this off the fact there is no actual proof, videos, or people backing up this comment apart from what has been passed on to other fans that weren't there who love to believe it and attack Celtic.
