I don't know why everyone is worried the tickets were restricted to fans who had been to 3 aways last season , now the restrictions have been lifted for the amount of away games they will sell out , I know loads of people who were hoping the tickets would be available just for season ticket holders as they were desperate to see our 1st Prem game

Or is it as simple as many are still on holiday and don't want to rock the boat with the Mrs!

Money.

£42 a ticket? Yeah, no thanks.

I doubt that will count when it comes to man utd, arsenal and other teams away who charge more

True

I think people are going to try and go for the big games only (that's if they can get the tickets of course)

Sums it up for me.

£42 for a ticket.
£25 For a coach (no doubt get messed about my police)
£72 before you think about travel to the coach, drink, food.

It would easily cost me £120 bare minimum. I'd rather go to other grounds.

Its West Ham - thousands have been there already.
Its expensive
Its early yet....people on hols etc.
Money is tight
Still not much enthusiasm after rebrand....for many.

In spite of all this, we will be still close to a sell-out.

I agree, it's hardly surprising people would rather save money for the bigger games.

I'm not suprised..if this game had been 15 20 year ago they would of gone in a heartbeat!!!

That was at Man City though

1. Travel restrictions.

2. The price is a piss take.

Wish I was going though

Re: IS IT WORRYING ???

Not worrying, just a boring game to start the season and the prices are very high, I know they'll be high for every away game next season but a lot of people (including me) have done West Ham away twice in the last two years which is why I won't be going, saving my money for more exciting away games.

We sold out every home game and the majority of away games (barring Newcastle, Sunderland) within 72 hours.

We packed out the Wigan end so saying west ham isn't "glamorous" is a shocking excuse. Are you here to support Cardiff or watch the opposition?

Re: IS IT WORRYING ???

Wed Jul 17, 2013 8:08 pm

Not worrying.

People like me 17 without a job and a student in College.

Costs me £70-£90 tops.

Re: IS IT WORRYING ???

Wed Jul 17, 2013 8:09 pm

Also we did sell out Hull didn't we?

I am genuinely surprised that we have not sold more tickets than we currently have, at a recent travel group meeting I stated that I believed we would sell our allocation for the first game regardless of the opposition.

Judging by sales so far it seems I am very wrong.

At this moment we have not sold 50% of our allocation.

Cardiff City are in the PL/top flight for the first time in 51 years.

Home crowds highest for over 40 years.

On Friday West Ham will want to know how many of our allocation we require. After the first 1,500 West Ham will sell us blocks of 500 at a time, which the club must purchase.

Last season we didn't sell out our allocation at games like Burnley, Hull, Boro, Birmingham, Leeds, Blackburn, Millwall, Charlton and Palace etc and at many of these games we were top of the league and ended up as our best season for 51 years.

So what are the reasons and is it worrying ??

Is it Premier League prices and are people saving for the top 6 teams ?

Is it a carryover from last season and the rebrand?

Is it the opposition?

Are we not as big a club as we think we are ?

First game sales look poor when in previous seasons we have always taken excellent support to our first away game regardless of the division?

Is it purely our fan base has changed and don't travel as much?

Can anyone think of a reason why our sales are slow and low ?

South Wales is not an affluent area and it will cost a fan the best part of a 100 notes to be taken miles out of their way for what in effect is a bubble game.

But you have 500,000 fans according to Annis? 3000 tickets at a moderate £40 for prem standards on your first game in the premier league should fly out.

Re: IS IT WORRYING ???

If they done a 16-21 price or U18 price the issue wouldn't be how it is.

Re: IS IT WORRYING ???

funny how you lot love to rip the piss out of our attendances at sunderland on a tuesday in january, but find all the excuses under the sun when it comes to your first ever premier league game. on a weekend!

Re: IS IT WORRYING ???

Wed Jul 17, 2013 8:12 pm

People keep saying that they will pick other away games but what makes you think you will be able to get tickets if you dont attend our 1st away game? I appreciate that people have been there recently & it is expensive but needs must. Plus it is our 1st ever premier league game. It could be against Hull for all I care but I would be going....

Re: IS IT WORRYING ???

Wed Jul 17, 2013 8:14 pm

I would go to West Ham if there was a U18 price.

Got to expect higher ticket prices in the prem but I was expecting around £35 but what's £7 extra when I'll go through £150 on an away day. One reason and one reason only me and a few others ain't going ....voucher exchange :x

Like Dando said, if there was a U18 price or even a student price I'd have considered going, I'm 17 so I'm not yet an adult and I'm a full time college student so I can't do a full time job. I'm sure the requirements for games won't last until around February. I went to 15 aways last season so I'd like to see my loyalty rewarded, shame the fixtures have panned out that we're playing awful teams in the first half the season away. Probably go to Fulham, Villa and Chelsea though to help qualify for other big fixtures :ayatollah: Doesn't matter if it's our first PL game, just another league where we're playing West Ham. We haven't played some of the big teams in a long time

Re: IS IT WORRYING ???

Wed Jul 17, 2013 8:26 pm

Prices have increased in the Prem ... No surprise there, but the fans I believe are expecting to see the team/ squad improved to justify the increase in the outlay for tickets.
Again money will be tight and games will be cherry picked .

Plenty of time left to sell. 31 days or so. I'd be shocked if we didn't sell out. However to take my kids I'd be looking at spending over 150 quid and having just booked a holiday I can't afford it.

Re: IS IT WORRYING ???

Wed Jul 17, 2013 8:28 pm

its not worrying, its just a sign of the times....way to expensive these days, too much hassle, the ones have been going for years have grown up or cant be arsed have famillies etc and the new generation cant afford it.
