Agreed, I'd rather follow the route of Norwich.

Exactly, Malky is a better manager than McDermott in my eyes but he's not spending? I know he's trying to get players in but sometimes you have t take risks, I'm not saying panic buying but maybe going for a player that isn't usually a Malky type player, we have to get everything spot on this season if we want to survive, Palace are strengthening well and Holloway has a good few contacts. The January window could be too late if we don't get most of our targets in this window, it's all about bedding them in well and not buying them at the last minute otherwise we could miss out massively. Surprised we didn't bring anyone else in before we headed off to Switzerland

I kinda blame the media for players not signing, they haven't shut up about players we're linked to which has alerted other clubs. I'm not worried about people on here spouting shite, as proven they know nothing. Ah well, onwards and upwards. :ayatollah:

The media does have a massive baring to be honest but it's gone on the quiet front now but the Ince saga hit us massively, for example we were all optimistic he'd come to us and the way it panned out looks like if we sign a winger then he'll only be second best to Ince. Exactly onwards and upwards, just think a few including myself really need a signing to give us an uplift

Hopefully there will be one or two soon as the season will be upon us very quickly and its then difficult to play catch up. :malky:

I'm sure the January targets will become a priority soon after this window closes on 31 August. I'm pretty sure Polo was being ironic talking about the January targets but I agree we need strengthening in this window.

That said I fully expect there to be signings in the coming 6 weeks.

I think the irony was lost on a few, Tony.

We could do with one or two this week though. Settle the nerves.

The same people had the same knee jerk reactions this time last year didn't they. It's frustrating losing out on 2 or 3 but when we've probably got dossiers on fifty or more, then I'm sure by the opening day of the season we won't have the same reservations. The problem is the close season is so boring everyone needs transfer activity every day!

You're right though, it'll be nice to hear who our second and third captures will be

Citygent could the second signing be soon?

I hope so, but Tom Ince agreed terms and had a medical booked but let us down at the last - so instead of speculating , I'm looking forward to the official announcements

ok cheers citygent. Without naming names do you expect the sane calibre of signing as we have been linked with? :ayatollah:

Trouble is after the debacle of the Tom Ince transfer it will be hard for anyone to speculate anymore. The 'find something wrong brigade' will be looking for anything to have a moan about.

Lets be honest even if you were MM'S PA you still couldn't have known the player was going to about turn like that.

You could tell from MM's body language in that interview on Sky on Thursday he knew Ince wasnt coming.

Lakey, what chance Malky back in for Tom Ince on deadline day if no-one else comes in for him?

Agreed. It was unfortunate the way it was played out in the end and Malky will be secretly fuming that the Inces reneged on an agreement in a similar manner to Celtic. As Annis said, not even Malky was ITK at the end dealing with the Ince family.

Trotskie, I'd like to think so

I'd say no chance mate. From my understanding of what went wrong, Ince junior wasn't entirely the problem. Lets hope the conflict of interest with daddy doesn't ruin such a promising career

Paul Ince knows how poor his team will be without his son, he's ruined what could turn out to be a great move for his son to help him save his job because I guarantee he'll be sacked by Christmas.

Re: January Transfer Targets

He will be sacked before the end of the transfer window IMO because Oyston does not want Ince junior running his contract down and wants rid this summer. If Ince snr is blocking that then Oyston will get rid of him and play hardball with junior. Take the move or rot in the reserves for a year.

If we don't strengthen now and struggle because of it, who thinks we will be signing quality players at a decent price in January and what players would want to come to a team adrift at the bottom.
