Was he misleading the fans saying he was spending his own money - or was he lying?

Very important point. Because he knew he was becoming an icon and hero to all the fans. Had we
known he was running up huge debts against the Club would the fans have still supported him?

(bearing in mind that Tan is the Anti-christ on this board over the loans he has taken out (publicly)

Misleading/lying; essentially the same and yes, we all realise he did this to us. However, look where we are now, 13 years after his arrival and look where we'd been for the 20 years before it (my time supporting City). You must admit that his involvement with the club provided the catalyst needed to move us from the mire to where we are now. Nobody can say whether, if Sam hadn't arrived, anyone else would've taken up the challenge. After all, we were hardly a mouth-watering prospect for any potential investors when you consider the facilities, the stock and the reputation of us, the fans....

I really don't know if Sam was in Cardiff today but when I last spoke to him which was a week ago today, he told me he was flying into London last Sunday and flying back to Lebanon on Wednesday after having meetings planned on Monday and Tuesday.

Later this month we hope to meet up when he returns to London.

Liar :D

Misleading is a diluted form of the word 'liar' and you know it

My question was would Sam have been this big hero if we'd all know he was borrowing tens of millions against
the name of Cardiff City? My thoughts are NO> The fans would have been up in arms about at least a dozen
signings and the salaries he gave them, and other things. So he got his ''hero status'' on the back of a LIE. And
all through those years he knew it.

Why are Sams supporter afraid to call him a liar? wont you be allowed on the bus?

Yes, I said they are essentially the same!

My point has nothing to do with hero-worship and I know we were all lied to and misled. My point is simply; look at the incredible roller-coaster ride that we've been on since 2000; never a dull moment and, apart from the Rick Wright era, a million times more enjoyable (on the field, at least!) than the 20 years that preceded his arrival.

There are too many missing pieces to have a complete picture. Pieces I very doubt we will find. From the ones we have Sam comes over as a chairman that misled us. There is no doubting he said he would leave us with no debt so yes people are right to believe he lied to us. However circumstances change and specially in a business world.

Although I cannot say this for sure but I get the impression Sam was making enemies within the club and local authorities well before he left. If I was in his shoes I would start securing the money I had lent even to the fact I was going against a promise. The last thing I would want is the likes of Ridsdale and gang getting one up on me. Saying this though I don't think Sam has been clever by unsecuring the loan notes. Then again I have a feeling the club have not been clever with the summary judgement.

Sorry but that skirts too many issues. Its as if your loathe to use the word LIAR. Which he was.

Do you realise you are condemning him with your own words. What you are suggesting is that at the same
time he was lying to Annis/Gwyn/you/me etc etc about spending all his own money.... he was busy
working out an escape strategy knowing full well he was leaving Cardiff City with a £20m debt. Feller it
was no mistake. The very second he took that loan out against Cardiff City he shat on friendships, shat on
the fans. Not for taking out a loan - but for TELLING the fans (not misleading them) that it was HIS OWN
money bankrolling our quest for the big time

Why would Sam be planning an escape strategy leaving the club £20 million in debt when the money owed would be his or his associates money. That would be crazy.

Are you kidding? this board is like a "The Debt Continues To Rise" drama series

But lets be serious for a second. £2m on Velikonya seems to have been a mistake but Kim Bo, Bellamy,
Mutch, Campbell, Cornelius, the Vale, ground extensions, the Academy, Malky, coaching staff, dieticians
physios etc etc etc... Although the debt is rising we can hardly say he is spunking money the way Sam
the ''football man'' did on some of his beauts

oh, and was Sam a liar?

Oh come on mate. Answer these points for me

1) Did Sam Hammam KNOW he was taking out loans against Cardiff City Football Club. yes or no.

2) Did Sam Hammam tell his inner Circle mates he was taking out loans against Cardiff City

3) Did Sam Hammam tell fans at various meetings he was spending his own money and if he left the
debt would leave with him

If the answer to Q1 is YES, and if the answer to Q2 NO and Q3 YES....

Then unless he FORGOT he'd taken out loans... he was LYING to people who trusted him, and he was
LYING to the Cardiff City Fanbase. "Sorry lads I made a mistake doesnt wash"

I just find it embarrasing that so many on here airbrush over what Sam Hammam did, yet were quick as
f**k to call Vincent Tan a liar over the rebrand, and were quick as f**k to say hes a liar over the debt
to equity affair.

You KNOW Sam was lying :thumbright: But you wont speak out. Serious now. Does it get you banned
off the coach for speaking out against Sam?
