But this is Ince we're talking about, not just some average Championship player.
Nobody knows how Ince will perform at Prem level.
Look at Sinclair and Graham, arguably better championship records yet cant cut in the Prem. £8m is staggering. But so is £6m for Shelvey.
The extra 40% income for prem clubs this year has inflated player prices almost to the same rate.
Graham had a decent strike rate in the first season in the Prem 14/15? And he was up to 7 goals when he left for Sunderland last year which wasn't bad considering he was in and out of the team. There seems to be this myth that Graham was dogshit in the Prem, when he clearly wasn't bad, If memory serves he was the 3rd highest English scorer that first season.

As a business proposition, Cardiff City have far more chance of making money in the long run out of Tom Ince
than Swansea do from that freaky looking fucker Shelvey. So Jenkins' comments are unfounded, if not spectacularly
wrong. He usually gets a bee in his bonnet about us once in a a while. This time I think he's getting knocked back
on players and is not happy seeing the squad Malky is building. Add to that the pressure it puts on him when
Laudrup says he wants more money to spend. Bad times for Cartwright![]()

But Jenkins isn't prepared to pay silly money for an unproven player and Cardiff are. Maybe it will be an ok gamble, time will tell...
Personally if I were Ince I'd want to go to a footballing team and not Cardiff who score goals from set pieces etc

I am not saying you offered £20K a week, but worth is only what someone else is willing to pay.
PS - Wigan played nice football but couldn't defend set pieces. Stoke score goals from set pieces and don't play nice football.......

Sure - but Ince seems like someone who is keen to progress his career rather than only think about money. Cardiff are rightly or wrongly favourites for relegation. He would have a better chance of remaining a PL player at Swansea and probably more of a chance to impress and show off his skills given the way Swansea play. People say he's great with the ball at his feet but if cardiff score so many goals from set pieces and corners then maybe Cardiff isn't a good fit for him.
Either way, 8million for a player who has only done well at championship level is a lot so I think what HJ has said is correct.
6m for Shelvey is less and he has PL experience at a top club and an England call up. Maybe it's also a bit much but frankly I think having someone with a bit of strength and urgency about him would give Swansea another option - he could be a very good squad signing.

Liverpool are a pretty average Premiership side nowadays... and he cant get a game!!! Personally, if ANY of us were Ince you'd want to go to a Club that look ambitious. Your 20,000 seat shoe box is looking less and less attractive as each season goes by where you dont add seat. Because it stinks of ''small time''

I think when Cardiff are fighting to grind out points next season then you'll realise that 61 points (or whatever it was that Liverpool finished with) in the premier league is quite a decent total.
Ambition is fine as long as you can back it up. Personally I'm much happier with our board being financially prudent while delivering greater success each season. Winning trophies and finishing top ten is no small achievement and if you can do it without throwing money around then even better. I don't really think Ince will care about a club having an extra few thousand spectators when they're more likely to become a championship team again next season and don't play a way that suits him. if he goes to Cardiff then it's because other clubs don't want to spend such amounts on him.

In the Cardiff AGM notes for this season is it summarised as 'sh*t or bust'?
