Nobody knows how Ince will perform at Prem level.

Look at Sinclair and Graham, arguably better championship records yet cant cut in the Prem. £8m is staggering. But so is £6m for Shelvey.

The extra 40% income for prem clubs this year has inflated player prices almost to the same rate.

Graham had a decent strike rate in the first season in the Prem 14/15? And he was up to 7 goals when he left for Sunderland last year which wasn't bad considering he was in and out of the team. There seems to be this myth that Graham was dogshit in the Prem, when he clearly wasn't bad, If memory serves he was the 3rd highest English scorer that first season.

I dont think Graham is dogshir. But there's something about his attitude im not sure id like here!

15 goals in 65 games is not a good strike rate for a main striker in a top 10 Premier League club.

that of course, off the back of being championship top scorer.

Both deals seem too expensive to me, but that's the British market for you. I think we should've paid a maximum of 6 for Ince.

This is about right IMO although with ince being in last year of his contract and shelvey having much more pl experience and a full england cap it's obvious Swansea have the better deal

I'm not so certain we are paying over the odds for Tom Ince.

No-one not even snozzle durante Jenkins has spouted that Man U have paid over the odds for Zaha at a reported £15m or that his wages at Man U are over the top and he has scored nothing like the goals Tom Ince has in the Championship and Zaha played for a team that got promoted, not for a bunch of 'also rans' on a cabbage patch pitch like Tom Ince did.

What's more Kevin Phillips, who has played with both players, rates Tom Ince more developed as a player than he does Zaha at the moment and as an equally good a prospect as Zaha in the longer term, that is if Zaha develops his game further with Man U (when he is probably going to spend much of his time on the bench).

Enough said - bitter comes to mind - bitter because Jenkins can only offer ML so called 'proven' Premiership mediocrity rather than the true potential of the player ML really wanted - Tom Ince!!

What's the problem? If Swansea wanted Ince then they would have got him over Cardiff because of stability, european football, style of play (ince would be a good fit) etc

But Jenkins isn't prepared to pay silly money for an unproven player and Cardiff are. Maybe it will be an ok gamble, time will tell...

Personally if I were Ince I'd want to go to a footballing team and not Cardiff who score goals from set pieces etc

As a business proposition, Cardiff City have far more chance of making money in the long run out of Tom Ince
than Swansea do from that freaky looking fucker Shelvey. So Jenkins' comments are unfounded, if not spectacularly
wrong. He usually gets a bee in his bonnet about us once in a a while. This time I think he's getting knocked back
on players and is not happy seeing the squad Malky is building. Add to that the pressure it puts on him when
Laudrup says he wants more money to spend. Bad times for Cartwright

If I was Ince I would go for £1.82 million a year instead of £1 million.......And I guess you would as well !!!!!!

I am not saying you offered £20K a week, but worth is only what someone else is willing to pay.

PS - Wigan played nice football but couldn't defend set pieces. Stoke score goals from set pieces and don't play nice football.......

Sure - but Ince seems like someone who is keen to progress his career rather than only think about money. Cardiff are rightly or wrongly favourites for relegation. He would have a better chance of remaining a PL player at Swansea and probably more of a chance to impress and show off his skills given the way Swansea play. People say he's great with the ball at his feet but if cardiff score so many goals from set pieces and corners then maybe Cardiff isn't a good fit for him.

Either way, 8million for a player who has only done well at championship level is a lot so I think what HJ has said is correct.

6m for Shelvey is less and he has PL experience at a top club and an England call up. Maybe it's also a bit much but frankly I think having someone with a bit of strength and urgency about him would give Swansea another option - he could be a very good squad signing.

Ah right. so thats why you went for Shelvy at £6m :? Lad, you have bought Shelvey from Liverpool, a team that finished nearly 30 points behind Manchester United. Liverpool are a pretty average Premiership side nowadays... and he cant get a game!!! Personally, if ANY of us were Ince you'd want to go to a Club that look ambitious. Your 20,000 seat shoe box is looking less and less attractive as each season goes by where you dont add seat. Because it stinks of ''small time''

Re: Huw Jenkins " staggered" by ince deal money

Huw the hypocrite says 8 million is too much for Ince yet he is allegedly outpricing Ashley Williams from a move to Arsenal. Mind you we all know that Huw has no financial morals given his own business dealings and a certain CVA.

I seem to remember a certain Swansea City were favourites for relegation two season ago.... Bolton, Blackburn and Wolves were "established" premier league teams. You know better than I what happened that season.

Life is a gamble. Huw has rolled the dice and landed a few double sixes, can it last ? If I was a footballer would I go for the money ? Too right. You are only an injury away...

I think when Cardiff are fighting to grind out points next season then you'll realise that 61 points (or whatever it was that Liverpool finished with) in the premier league is quite a decent total.

Ambition is fine as long as you can back it up. Personally I'm much happier with our board being financially prudent while delivering greater success each season. Winning trophies and finishing top ten is no small achievement and if you can do it without throwing money around then even better. I don't really think Ince will care about a club having an extra few thousand spectators when they're more likely to become a championship team again next season and don't play a way that suits him. if he goes to Cardiff then it's because other clubs don't want to spend such amounts on him.

Some bitter clueless jacks here mind  Shelvey is f*cking shit. Ince is up there with the most promising footballers in the UK and is joining one of the most progressive football clubs in Europe.8m will prove a steal come next may. You've got a big shock coming if you think we'll be relegation fodder with the talent we've got coming in.

Its great whilst the model works.... Blackburn and Bolton, Birmingham were in Europe, top 10 and winning trophies, the second you think you have made it you are dead.......

As admirable as the Swansea model is, if you are in the bottom 3 come Christmas most of your fans will be screaming blue murder at Huw for not spending......

I don't think anyone in Swansea thinks the club have 'made it'. Unless you're a top four club then every season is fight for survival - look at Newcastle the last two seasons. The Swansea board are spending money but won't just waste it either. Look at the number of signings already made. Cardiff might want to strengthen in defence to stand a chance of staying up. No point splashing out on unproven attackers when you have championship defence. Premier league strikers will hammer you if you stick as it is.

5 milion for Shelvey in the end. Not bad at all really.

Michu was considered an average spaniard over here.

Which world class defenders have you put bids in for? (note - and just because you want to pay silly money that you haven't got for them, doesn't mean they are world class)
