I hope malky doesn't toss him as side as he did at the end of season just passed. Yes he needed To rest, but you may agree with me, that the style of the Prem should suit whitts to a tee.

His free kick accuracy, corners, penalties, passing and ability to read games will in my opinion be enhanced in the top division.

Let's hope he's given his chance to reach the heights we all know he's capable of.

Did you miss Whitts at the end of last season?
What are your thoughts going into the top league?

Great player is Whitts and will shine in the top division

Not too sure Malky 'cast him aside' though. Whitts (IMHO) was played well out of his comfort zone last season and looked visibly tired before he was replaced by Kim Bo, who seized his opportunity and the rest, as they say, is history

A place for Whitts in the Premier League and a place for him in Malky's team :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Never or again Hardly ever wins or even goes up for a 50/50 heading situation.
If you remember when Malky first took over ,Malky said everyone had to be a defender as well.
For about a month or 2 Whitts did it ,but slowly slowly that stopped, in the prem everyone has to track back to help out.
If Whitts can do that I'm sure and hope he is given his chance to shine.

I can recall two last man/ditch tackles last season.
Two "take one for the team" yellow cards

If you want crunching 50/50 tackles I suggest a stint watching Cardiff & District league because you will not see many next season. Of course, if you do see one it will be followed by a red card.

He doesn't celebrate don't you realise? When it comes to New Years Day, Valentines Day, Birthdays, Easter and Christmas he doesn't celebrate

Although I've been critical of Whittingham lately, read this article and tell me he's not hungry for the Prem.

In a few words ..... form is temporary, class is permanent. Whitts will get his chance to shine.

After reading the whole thread, felt as though I had to post again......fickle isn't the word to describe our following. Touted by many as "the best player outside the Premiership" in the past seasons, too many now believe he can't cut it, goes missing in big games, can't defend etc.

I repeat, in my opinion a top class professional, top bloke and sure to return to top form.

Exactly. Some of our fans are still stuck in the days of the dungeon I think.

Whitts is one of the best stikers of a ball we have.
He was however used far too deep last season as his atacking ability (his main weapon) was completely nulified.

That said, when he did come on, his freekicks and corners were not of the high standard we have been used to from him.
I hope the dropping to the bench and the rest, will give him the kick up the arse he needs.

He deserves to play an important part of our Premier ambitions next season.
He's better than Championship standard.

Whitts WILL score superb free kicks in the premier league!

Mark my words.... ;)

We will have a much better squad going into the premier league, so maybe he won't start every game, we will have to approach each team differently, keep mixing it up, keep teams guessing, the first season - Teams will be trying to work us out, so we have to keep things randomly tactical to survive IMO.

and MR PETER WHITTINGHAM will be a key player in doing this. :malky:

So Whitts doesnt track back?

F8ck me if he played any deeper last season he would have been playing the playstations in the family stand.

just standing around and Just running up to player and backing away when you get there, dont mean you have done much.
Some times I forget he is on the field .

Lets remember that since Malky has come here he's been a lot stricter with the players diet and fitness routines.

Consider that Whitts isn't fully used to running around and pressing a lot more than he did under Jones, consider that before Christmas he had played almost all of our games for the past few years; He simply burned out.

He's going to come back after this summer fitter than ever before since his rest, and whether you think he can maintain good form throughout the whole season or not, he could be vital for a few months, and could be the difference between staying up and going down.
