It's his job & if you are offered the chance to do it at the highest level & "prove yourself" wouldn't you take it? Anyone with any sort of ambition would. Plus, he would be moving home. That was a big pull for him too.

He was lazy.. Maybe, but he also scored a lot of goals and assisted a lot too. There were games where Bothroyd was simply unplayable. The game he played when we beat Derby 6-1 at home, he was incredible.

There were also times where it seemed we wouldn't win wi though Jay, very similar to the situation with Hudson this year, he was that important to the squad.

Whilst I wouldn't want to sign him now, I've got nothing but respect for Bothroyd and his time at Cardiff City. :ayatollah:

100% agree, The play off final for example, as soon as he went off I knew we were in trouble, we did still go 2 - 1 up but once we were behind we had no one like him to pull it back. Hope he gets a new club and he won't be short of offers, but sadly not good enough now for us. :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

That is exactly my feeling.

Jay fell over too much and moaned like a mini-Bellers, but he was the best forward to play for the club in a generation. Wasted talent, but still one of the best we have seen.

I never fell for the 'I'm just a Cardiff boy now' bollux, and he is clearly a mercenary like 90% of all professional players - but I wish him well and thank him for the memories!

Never been a Bothroyd fan but i believe he would still do a job for us. Far better than Rudy

Thinks he's better than he is. A good player for us at the start but once he got capped by England he decided he was too big time.

Not a prem player IMO.

He was a fully committed pro who did well for CCFC and proved his doubters wrong after the apathy of his initial joining Cardiff.

He was a free agent that went to the premiership and had the ambition to try. He has been nothing but complimentary to Cardiff and it's fans since the move, despite the hate he got from some CCFC fans on twitter.

He's probably not good enough for us now, nor would he fit in at the club these days, but he was very important to us at one point.

I actually for once agree with every word. :ayatollah:

You could put it that way but I personally think he didn't fully realise how talented he was. In the first half of the 2010/11 season he was absolutely superb and seemed to have a brilliant link up with Chris Burke.

A lot of fans are of the opinion that he lost form after that England call up but I have always believed it was more to do with Jones dropping Burke and playing lesser players on the right wing.

He wasn't a player who adapted well to change but when the blend was right he was one of the best players ever to have played for us.

At points Ralph he was superb and was a good servant. But what he did after his England cap was disgracefull and for that i have no respect for him
