It's his job & if you are offered the chance to do it at the highest level & "prove yourself" wouldn't you take it? Anyone with any sort of ambition would. Plus, he would be moving home. That was a big pull for him too.
He was lazy.. Maybe, but he also scored a lot of goals and assisted a lot too. There were games where Bothroyd was simply unplayable. The game he played when we beat Derby 6-1 at home, he was incredible.
There were also times where it seemed we wouldn't win wi though Jay, very similar to the situation with Hudson this year, he was that important to the squad.
Whilst I wouldn't want to sign him now, I've got nothing but respect for Bothroyd and his time at Cardiff City.
100% agree, The play off final for example, as soon as he went off I knew we were in trouble, we did still go 2 - 1 up but once we were behind we had no one like him to pull it back. Hope he gets a new club and he won't be short of offers, but sadly not good enough now for us.![]()

He was a fully committed pro who did well for CCFC and proved his doubters wrong after the apathy of his initial joining Cardiff.
He was a free agent that went to the premiership and had the ambition to try. He has been nothing but complimentary to Cardiff and it's fans since the move, despite the hate he got from some CCFC fans on twitter.
He's probably not good enough for us now, nor would he fit in at the club these days, but he was very important to us at one point.

Not a prem player IMO.
