Just glance at the archives of this and other cardiff city forums. The moment Swansea got to the big league, discontent amongst Cardiff fans reached a new high. Cardiff fans from that point on HAD to be in the premier league.
People have said before that if a rich businessman tried to make Everton play in red or Liverpool in blue then it just wouldn't be allowed to happen. The majority of Cardiff fans were not that bothered about the rebrand and those that did care were quickly mellowed by the promise of premier league football. what happened to all those 'i wont go again' fans. Still attending aye?
Like your chairman says, maybe a small number might leave but the majority are just happy for success.... I even heard this classic more than a few times: "i'd play in pink if it got us to the premier league".
cardiff sold out and anyone who denies that is lying. Jealousy of Swansea was a factor in that.
Give us a link to the archives...Show me where we had to take red because of little old Swansea.![]()

Nobody says you had to take red. There was relatively little opposition to your rebranding though and a big part of that was to keep up with your rivals. The moment Swansea suceeded in doing something you had never done before, CCFC changed forever. You even sacked Dave Jones the very same day we got promoted ffs...says it all. From that point on it was success at any cost and anything the Malaysians wanted would be accepted. sad but true.

Dave jones was sacked a couple of weeks after you got promoted. Another bright spark here.

Yes Jack, I believe that the fact you made the Prem meant that a large majority of our fans sold out for success, they couldn't take being below you. I for one was mightily p.issed off but wouldn't have flushed my own clubs history and identity down the drain because of it.

Yep.
Seems some Cardiff fans can admit the impact Swansea's success has had on their club while others can't.

Speaking personally the answer is no. The overriding reason why I have signed up to the reluctant red camp is our 3 (or was it 4) appearances in the winding up court in 2009/10.
We came very very close to not just losing our history, identity and blue shirts but everything else including league status, name and stadium due to the excesses of Sam Hammam and more to the point Peter Ridsdale.
Something radical had to be done to stem the flow. I don't have a spare £100m but Vincent Tan does and he has offered it to us in exchange for rebranding to red.
We had to take it to become debt free.
