Kuyt is now odds on 8/11 to join us. My question is though where would he fit into the team? Out wide in as an attacking midfielder/inside forward, striker? Squad player?

Put your hands up for dirk kuyt, he loves the city :ayatollah:

I wouldnt read too much into it, the betting markets are dictated by people placing bets.

Someone start a rumour on the internet, they take some bets, and the odds come down.

Yeh I was thinking that myself since people on here were saying he was on his way all of a sudden his odds come down, could be just rumours still who knows

Sometimes the betting companies put the rumours out themselves.

It is what is known as a "Sting".

Haha honestly some fans need a reality check.

Welcome Dirk :ayatollah:

because it was 3 years ago......not last week....and as i stated...i would rather younger players....personal choice....or should everbody only want what you think??

Krabb, our youngsters would've watched Bellers and Kyut play in prem on a regular basis. Would've also seen Kyut play in a World Cup final. Now they're gonna be training and playing Premier league football with these players..
How Can That not be good for our club?
No New Wave Youngster will be able to give them that sort of experience.

im not on about 17 year olds ...but 22-23 year olds a much better bet...they have bellamy to look up to...we dont need anymore..

Re: Kuyt

Mon Jun 17, 2013 10:31 am

Krabb you are naive if you think only one senior player with PL experience is going to be suffice.

I am not saying lets sign 2 or 3 33 year olds but I certainly think we should be looking to sign a couple of players with PL experience.

I cant see Kuyt happening myself, the guy plays for a team in european competition, but he would be ideal with the experience and proffesionalism that he would bring.

Re: Kuyt

Mon Jun 17, 2013 10:38 am

in Kuyt and Bellamy, we have to players with a vast amount of experience at this level. As well as that, they are players who lead by example with the way they play.

If we can get someone similar at the heart of our defense then i think we will be well set, we have a lot of players in and around the mid twenties, so a few older heads will be nice.

Where did I say youve got to be 30 plus????

This is what you said:

A team full of youngsters and just one experienced campaigner nearly saw Villa get relegated last year.

Re: Kuyt

Would be a great signing, Obviously at a lower level but look at what a seemingly past-it heider helguson did for us last season. When a player has the attitude of a kuyt or helguson age is not so important

sorry, where is premier league experience...what i said is we dont need any more older players....we got bellamy, thats enough, anybody that is good enough to play in prem league wont need to look at old heads anyway.and what happened to villa happened ...nothing to say they were to young...i just think the money could be better spent elsewhere....

Dirk Kuyt would be a great signing, He's like a premier league version of Don Cowie. He's got a great attitude and work ethic he'd fit in perfectly into Malky's squad. He also has a habit of scoring important goals. His professionalism and experience would be a huge boost for us. :ayatollah:

Considering all the stuff going on in Turkey (with Fenerbache being in Istanbul as well) I wouldn't be surprised if he was looking to move on. Whether or not he'd move to us is another matter but if he is looking to move it wouldn't be surprising. He has a family too so he'll be thinking about them.

Of course they do, look at Ryan Giggs I think the younger players at man utd look to him for advice

Great player works hard and is good going forward .He is the sort of player we should be looking at to help us stay up next season my only concern is his wages.

Re: Kuyt

Mon Jun 17, 2013 3:10 pm

Where would he play? Liverpool played him out wide. But that's some time ago & he wasn't exactly full of pace then. Up top, we have Maynard & Campbell already as our 'poachers' & he's no 'big target man' type. He's a hard worker, and I liked him at Liverpool, but IMO he'd be an expensive squad player.

It's the same with Liverpool. The younger players look up to Gerrard and Carragher :thumbright:

he only left Liverpool last summer.

The game I seen him for his current side he was playing up top with a goalscorer. he gave the centre halfs a torrid time, constantly harassing them, holding the ball up for the midfield.etc.

I know that.

But I'm pretty sure he was used as a sub quite a lot, and didn't get many goals in his last season? Never watched Turkish football wouldn't know, but I can't imagine the defenders are of the same standard as the Premiership.
For the same wage I'd rather pay a bigger fee for Gomis, bit younger & doing it at a higher level.

which match? the one where they lost 3-1 or scaped the 1-0 win?

because over the two matches they averaged 4 shots on target per match and one of those was a penalty. to say the benfica defenders were given a torrid time is stretching it a little.

If those facts are accurate your going to struggle to convince me he gave them a torrid time. & a good name against Luisao, whos a different type of CB to the likes in the PL, doesn't convince me he can pose a threat up top for 30+ games over the season.
