Thats why Sams reign stands out for me, his mistakes, Riddlers mistakes and currently Tans ignorant rebrand mistakes all made in different circumstances, but unlike the other two Sam worked with the fans until his pocket calculator let him down. All I want is for Tan to work with us, not a lot to ask considering we are his 'customers'.
Tan is driving the club forward no doubt, but its more Financial Times than Roy of The Rovers, more X Factor than The Old Grey Whistle Test, more Harlem Globetrotters than Riverside AFC. But I am obviously a dinosaur in my nostalgia and pride in the tradition of my communitys football team. I am careful what I wish for, I dont want a struggling almost extinct team, I want the club to listen, consider and reconnect to us. I struggle to support a 1984 style global money marketing global franchise.
And as my frazzled memory recollects, I am sure we had close to 20k under Sam for games against Leeds, West Ham etc.

No, only Sam knew what was going on of course. I dont disagree with any of that, but we were in a better position in the league standings and with a stadium on the way than when he took over. The financial state was a massive and naieve oversight by him, That will always sway opinion, however he listened to us when he wanted to rebrand, and also there was a closeness and community feeling between fans and club under his rule, and thats my point here, if only Tan could show a LITTLE bit of that, then a hero he could be.
