Re: New kit - feedback to the club thread

Irrespective of it's colour the kit looks cheap and tacky and not befitting of a Premier League club. May I suggest to Mr. Tan and whoever else at the club is responsible for this poor excuse for an attempt at kit design to send it straight back to Puma forthwith and if they cant improve on it 100% then we should go to a different kit manufacturer. In fact we should be pursuing that option anyway just in case. :ayatollah:

With the world watching us the kit looks cheap , thrown together , asthetically displeasing and doubt will be a global wish list for kids

Mentioned this before, as much as I want us to be back in blue with our Bluebirds crest again, I stated at the beginning of the conflict we should maybe look for an alternative, a compromise if Tan so much insists on red and the dragon. My first thought was getting a shirt with red and blue. But tbh they all look sh1te, just look at Palace...

Then I thought maybe we could play 50% of our home games in red, the rest in blue or whenever games are televised in Asia play in red, all other days in blue.
Doesn't work, as most games are shown in Asia and I heard the league insists on ONE home kit.

Well, I just heard these days what German club Bayer Leverkusen are doing now:

Their colours are red and black, but their supporters were divided if they'd prefer a red or a black homeshirt. The traditional colour is red but somehow black sells better and is more fav. with their younger fans.

So they came up with this:

this year's red home shirt becomes the away shirt for next season, with the club introducing a new black home shirt for 13/14. This black kit will become the new away strip for 14/15, whilst they will have a red home shirt for that season...

They'll also have an alternative 3rd kit (this term all white) in case of a colour clash away from home (eg when they play red/black striped Frankfurt)

That way both sides are happy, and imo this would be a real alternative for us as well:

12/13 we played red home, blue away
13/14 blue home, red away
14/15 red home, blue away
15/16 blue home, red away
etc

plus a 3rd neutral kit to avoid colour clashes...

Regarding the crest, you surely know Karl Impayne's designs with the combined Dragon/Bluebird... that would be a real compromise as well, a real alternative and a way to get many blue fans on board again.
Of course, I want us 100% Blue, but a compromise is better than the situation we have now...

I know that, but this is a COMPROMISE, as we give Tan something, now he should give up on his red only...

Tan is never going to compromise to that level. He has the good hand and we have the shit one. We need to make smart moves if we are to win this game. Hes the owner with the money and the final say. We need to be clever about this but people are just jumping the gun and getting carried away and panicking.

Put this to them Gav.

Why cant tan set up his own kit manufacturing business.

That way he can / we can have more input into the design. He could have the dragon as the logo, like nike with the tick etc

Just a thought.

If Tan did it himself he would have his face where the Puma badge is, RED DRAGONS on the back instead of the players names, GOD WILLING as sponsors underneath the players kit number and the Chinese lucky number 8 on every single kit.

The less power Tan has over the bloody kit the better.

No one gives a shit whether we look like Man Utd. Had we wore out traditional colours would be people be complaining we look like Everton? No, teams have similar schemes all the time. I'd rather a similar scheme that looks decent than a unique scheme for all the wrong reasons.

What a load of rubbish you talk. There would be no complaint if we were still blue.

My advice is go back to blue, simple as that.

If he could get the fans involved like Karl Payne loved some of his designs, we could come up with something tidy i think .
this is not about tan but a better input into design and not just the crap templates that they all come up with, if he wants unique.
then no better way than the fans having an input in to it,if the dragon was in place instead of say the puma, could be a bit of leway for a more proment bluebird in our badge .

Once again just a thought.

But if I am totally honest it's got to be BLUE for me end off ? That is our Identity. :ayatollah:

Smae here BLUE kit or nothing. This view will not dillute or weaken with time or success......Mr Tan is either highly disrespectful or unaware just how deep rooted and tribal british football is.

Most fans dont give enough of a shit that we're in red either Baked. Not trying to be controversial here but if they change the shorts to something more suitable (i.e. black) the fuss will die down from most and it'll be 'as you were'. A lot of people may want us in blue but only a small minority are willing to stand up for what they want. I personally would rather see a new badge. That is what shows on MOTD, that is what our brand is like the tick for Nike or the three stripes for Adidas but each man to their own I guess.

Lets hope Tan bumps his head one of these days and sees sense. I for one cant see it. The dictator has us by the balls.

Gav
We all know the red shirt is going nowhere so lets try for blue shorts with white stripes or a yellow and a white stripe

Hopefully we can the return to discussing football

As you say if this is submitted in a positive and polite way without VT losing face we may get somewhere

Good luck

I think the shorts need to be redesigned. Longer and better shape to them. Two tone could look good. A compromise would be blue shorts as mentioned numerous times. :ayatollah:

Done all that last July mate.. Showed badge designs and kit layouts. As you can see they obviously had no intention in giving the fans a choice in anything..

Its shocking really I can understand a bit with the kits as they have templates to work with , but your badge was a perfect compromise and I think most fans agree , we would of been proud of your badge on the kit and the merchandise

Are you going to make any shirts with your badge on ?
