Four weeks ago today I was fortunate enough to meet Vincent Tan and spend a little over two hours in his company. When I say fortunate, I mean it in a way that I believe no Cardiff City fan has had such open access to Vincent Tan before this and it seems that nobody has had such a meeting since.
The season that has past is undoubtedly the most controversial City fans have undergone as a result of the re-branding.
From the two meetings I attended, a year ago, with a group of fans representatives and four club officials, Vincent Tan was constantly described as a man who gets what he wants, a man so powerful among his staff that nobody says no to him, apparently you don't even consider offering an opinion as if it is different to his then you are out of the picture. The picture of Vincent Tan that was painted was that of a dictator.
On initially meeting Tan, I was careful in my words and approach, after the introductions I observed his behaviour and how he interacted with those close to him and it became apparent very quickly that he was not the preconceived dictator that I had been led to believe he was.
Here was a man who was comfortable to chat, have small talk, talk about any issue that was presented. Over the course of the two hours, the dynamics of the conversations were changing, at the beginning it was others and I that instigated the conversations and he responded but it didn't take too long before Tan was asking the questions.
It demonstrated to me at least that here was a man who is approachable, who will listen to ideas and debate them, he showed genuine interest in what was being discussed and offered an olive branch that I believed was not there before but maybe it always was but we as fans had not been united enough, strong enough to seek talks with Tan himself.
There have been attempts at demonstrations, protest groups and talks with City officials but I believe we as fans have gone about it the wrong way.
After meeting with Tan himself, I genuinely believe that through dialogue direct with the man himself is the way to bring him closer to the fans and vice versa. If we want any chance of bringing blue back as a primary colour then we have to discuss it with the one man who makes the decision, there is very little point in asking club officials to deliver a message on behalf of the fans, as I believe it has to be said with feeling, emotion and show what it means to us and having a middleman would be futile and possibly unfair on any said employee.
Any possible talks would have to be respectful and I am sure that we as fans would have to compromise if we are asking Vincent Tan to compromise too.
As a starter I would suggest that we wear blue and fly blue flags at games to celebrate our love of being blue and the bluebirds and do not be disrespectful to the red.
Whether we like it or not, Vincent Tan likes red, the message should be 'We love Blue' and not 'f**k off red', if we go down that road then we are drawing battle lines and looking for a fight, we do not want to fight Tan we want to welcome him but show him what it means to us to be blue.
We are known as powerful fans and channelled in the right manner and direction I honestly believe that is our best possible chance to get somewhere to what we want but we must be understanding of the wishes and beliefs of the man who is bankrolling the club.
Before we can even try and compromise with Vincent Tan, we must start first and bring unity among our support and start singing from the same hymn sheet. There are far too many divisions among our support but I can see that we all want the same end, we have to get together and accept among ourselves that we need to compromise between ourselves before we even contemplate trying to go direct to Vincent Tan.
We need to be united and put any ill feeling that may have arisen over the past year to one side if we are to achieve anything towards what I hope we could.
Where there is will there is a way!

How the hell do you propose to get us all united when Tan made us so far apart as fans.Put it this way if the man cared he would have respected the fans in the beginning and opened up to fans what his plans were as regards the rebrand.
He never did anything he just went ahead and did it regardless. He has since recently said if those 25 % of customers dont like it and leave then he can live with that.He tryed to blackmail people with the free red scarf bollocks.
The man will never get any respect from me at all he binned are identity with no feeling at all and he mocked customers who didnt like it .Its to late for anybody to think he is a reasonable man he is a cruel calculated business man who is good at what he does in business. In football he aint got a clue.
Good luck in the fact carl you are willing to try to enter into a compromise but its way to late now .I cant wait until Tan is gone and just maybe someone else will come in and change us back to blue.
This man has in one way been a total disaster and in another he has been a success if he had kept us blue he would have been loved by us fans for getting us to the prem.I would sacrifice the prem any day for are true identity back and thats what Tan just dont get.
Good luck carl and i respect you for trying but Tan should have consulted fans or should i say customers before he did or considered any changes he didnt and that says all i need to no about VT.
What more does he need carl lots have worn blue all season we sang we will always be blue when we got promoted we even sang it when he brought the trophy out onto the pitch and his red scarfs have got fewer and fewer so what other message does this total cock of a man need sorry carl but f**k tan i got no time for the man .Like I said good luck and I respect anybody who is willing to talk to him about it .![]()

No point in getting wound up bricky
Whilst tan is in the driving seat the home kit is red with no compromise whatsoever. People can talk about dialogue as much as they want but they are just fooling themselves. Tan will politely listen to opinion but it will still all culminate in red.

Tan, has No Resoect for the Arse lickers or fans who accept everything and those who say thank you thank you, Tan would rather hear the truth .

If he was that dictatorial then he would not have allowed that concession.

I agree with you (we played in blue against Watford and Hull on tv, and in black against Burnley), couple that with his speech a the player of the year awards dinner and I believe he is looking to compromise with fans.

brickyblue wrote:Tan has to realise that he has caused a real mess at are football club .The fans are divided which he has caused I go to games in blue with my kids who are also blue and then we sit next to someone in red.Its like siting next to an away fan its not right.
At a time when we are promoted to the prem for me Tan took all the gloss of it.I didnt celebrate at all instead I stood there gutted while people around me went nuts and its because of the rebrand.
I cant leave Cardiff City like loads of people have told me to because I dont have another team its just city.
VT did this and is still doing this along with his disrespectful comments in his TV interview about customers who dont buy into his plans well I dont see anything changing at all .
The time to challenge him has past he goes to games he sees the red shirts and i have asked in the club shop how popular the red kit is and they said the first day of sales they never seen anything like it they couldnt keep up with demand.
The free scarf blackmail came people decked the stadium out in red and that was my worst ever day supporting city i am sorry if that wasnt fans selling out then what was.
I dont think for one minute Tan will ever change us back to blue he may have but are fans and lots of them have embraced the rebrand and still do.
What we are left with is a divide in the fan base and for me its a real shame this is a once well supported club with passionate fans that teams hated playing us .Tan has washed a lot of that away, for me I still go in blue with the kids to watch city but my once proud and passionate support isnt there any more i am at 50 % less attachment to the club that i used to belong to for so long.
You can stick the prem i couldnt give a shit about it all i want is the clubs true identity and until that happens I wont be happy.
For the first time we have protested against Tan and the singing in the stadium towards the end of the season said it all.
Will he listen i dont think so but what i will say is those people like carl and annis who get to meet him they have a duty in representing the fans and they have to tell Tan what people think about it .I would love a chat with the idiot.
What we all no is we are red again next season that for me is a desaster just like it was last year.

Totally agree that this is the way forward.
Thousands of City fans wearing blue to home matches and being seen on television supporting a team playing in red. It will be obvious the rebrand hsan't worked.
This idea is catching on at last.

I believe you will see more red shirts in the stadium this season. The clubs first premiership shirt complete with badges will be seen as a collectors item in my opinion
