He is quite decent on his day, think Liverpool are a step to high for him. Could do a job for WBA or Swansea.

Transfer News: Swansea City sign Jonjo Shelvey from Liverpool
Last Updated: July 3, 2013 4:15pm

Swansea City have completed the signing of midfielder Jonjo Shelvey from Liverpool for a fee of £5m.

The 21-year-old has put pen to paper on a four-year contract at the Liberty Stadium after agreeing personal terms and passing a medical.

The England international - he has won one cap as a substitute in the 5-0 win over San Marino at Wembley last October - had also attracted the interest of Premier League newcomers Crystal Palace, but their bid was reportedly less than Swansea's.

Shelvey, whose fee also includes a number of potential add-ons, started his career with Charlton before moving to Liverpool for £1.7m in May 2010.

He made 69 appearances for the Reds and scored seven goals, but was deemed surplus to requirements at Anfield by boss Brendan Rodgers who is rebuilding his squad for the new season.

Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins has spoken of the need to increase the quota of homegrown players at the Liberty Stadium and Shelvey fits the bill.

"We have got to make sure that the make-up of our squad is right," said Jenkins.

"And obviously part of that is making sure that we have so many British players in there. We have got to do that - there is no choice because they are the rules."

Liverpool let him go, they are a big club who want to drive back into the Champions League.

He can do a job for Swansea or WBA.

Being honest.

I did too but he clearly isn't any good if he's signed for Swansea :o

They don't sign good English players.

They don't sign good English players.

Dyer, routledge, monk, sinclair, graham would prove otherwise.

He would be in my worst ever 11 that's played in the premier league :o

Re: anybody rate Jonjo Shelvey

He's a decent player with potential for that price. I'm worried that we're paying out too much money for unproven players - we should be buying more player with Prem experience

I, like you, am partial to a good stat. Here's one for you courtesy of whoscored.com or @whoscored on Twitter. I quote

"Jonjo Shelvey: Only seven of the Premier League players to score last season had a worse chance conversion rate than Shelvey (2.9%)"

I have no idea who the worst 6 were but look forward to him scoring once in every 35, yes Thirty Five chances. No wonder Liverpool wanted shot. Still good value at £6 mill?
