Behave yourself! Merely being promoted is not even close to half of what we have achieved.
Firstly if we were to listen to the inside info provided my moderators on Cardiff forums then Garry monk would be manager of Swansea after Laudrup resigning so forgive me for taking it with a pinch of salt.
Secondly in reality it doesn't matter if Laudrup himself told you, it's the content I'm questioning, not the source.

In our first two seasons in the prem we have achieved an average finish of 10th place (if we do finish 9th), wi a major trophy and European qualification under our belt. How do you envisage "evaporating" these achievements? Champions league qualification and a top 4 finish with a cup win?

We already eclipse you, in being the bigger club with the bigger ground and the bigger fan base, which will grow far bigger and far quicker than yourselves, as we are the capital, which means any potential sponsors or financial streams will aim to attach themselves to Cardiff over yourselves and many others, which will make us even bigger. If you want to argue with that logic, then knock yourself out!
You ask the question, how would you evaporate our achievements? and list that you have averaged top 10 and won the capital one cup! it's not a major trophy mate, it's a trophy, that Bradford got to the final in! that's how major it is, again if you wan't to believe that you have won a major trophy, then knock yourself out.
You suggest that to surpass this achievement we would have to finish in "Champions league qualification and a top 4 finish with a cup win?"
How your suggestion equates to the same as what you have achieved is laughable, as is expected from a Jack! I would say, if we were to finish top 10 and definately in the top 8 and win the FA cup, then that would indeed blow your achievements away. That's probably not going to happen though, at least not next season! However, we are no strangers to cup finals, so another trip to Wembley within the next couple of seasons is not out of the question.
I feel quite sorry for Swansea, in that they really could have done with a couple more seasons, before their big brother, came back to steal the limelight! But hey, shit happens!

We qualified for European competition the minute we won the league cup. You have to qualify to play in Europe before you are entitled to play a preliminary European match.

Do you think you will have achieved European qualification in that time?

so you've qualified for a qualifier for europe? its not exactly "and European qualification under our belt" as you put it, is it?
It should be "and European qualification qualification under our belt" So to better that from our point of view is not Champions League, its qualify for the Europa League because as it stands you havent done that yet.

If you can, yes we're more than capable of it. My point was not that we'll get to the Carling cup final again in the next two years, but now we're the biggest welsh club ever to grace the EPL then we're more equipped than you were two years ago. I'm not taking anything away from your progression, but you blinkered jacks writing us off before we've kicked a ball are in for a huge shock. We're the best equipped football club that's been promoted for years. Everything is in place for us to consolidate in the premier league then yes, I'd say within the next two seasons we'll be top ten

Still nothing to bookmark, you are being very evasive. Being in the top 10 in 2 years time wouldn't "evaporate" everything we have achieved would it.
You would need to finish 11th in year 1, 9th in year 2 and win a major cup and qualify for Europe JUST TO MATCH what we have done.
It's all well and good coming out with lines like that but it's another when asked to back it up and stick your neck on the line. You have just come out with "top 10 in two years" which is pretty much what we did in our first and second years plus a whole lot more.

No. You have qualified for a qualifier of European Competition. Its not a guarantee you will be in the group stage. Which is where the real european football starts. So if you dont make the group stage, yet we did, wether it was in 2 years or 5 years would still eclipse you.
We could qualify for a qualifier for europe through a major cup competition, id be happy just to concentrate on survival first and foremost rather than win the FA Cup.
We could also qualify for a qualifier for europe through a mickey mouse cup competion (a la you jack b*stards) which is easily do-able seeing as weve made the final as a championship team already.

This is why I love this forum, and it's posts like this I find fascinating.
You seem to be saying you already eclipse us because you have a bigger ground allowing a few more thousand to be at your games despite of what Swansea win or achieve, it really is amazing. So have Brighton eclipsed you then?![]()
I am saying that we already eclipse you in terms of support, ground size, fan base which in my opinion is the most important factor as we now both play in the same league as defining who is the bigger club. It could be argued that Brighton are the bigger club, they certainly attract bigger attendances and at one point the 80s were far bigger than us, however, they have not been promoted yet and if they don't then that goes against them
It doesn't matter how big your fan base is, only 27,000 can fit in, or 24,000 Cardiff fans and 3,000 away fans. I don't know any other club in world football that claims it's bigger and better than it's rivals based on a paltry sum like 4,000 - 5,000. Its incredible.
Our attendance will be 7000 higher than yours next season for every game, at £40 a ticket that equates to £5.3 million in gates receipts alone (not important?) Yeah Righto![]()
Onto the league cup, I don't "believe" it's a major trophy, I know it's a major trophy. That really isn't up for debate. Any domestic trophy that has a European spot attached to it is a major trophy, and thus described as such everywhere you care to look.
It's the Capital One cupand you can describe it as a major domestic trophy all you want, but in reality 90% of Premier teams put their reserves out and even Championship clubs who have bigger fish to fry like becoming Champions also turn out the reserves, that's the reality Mush
![]()
Now onto the meat of the topic. In order to blow our achievements away (although eclipse is the word you all seem to be searching for as nothing you do can take away the achievements of our club) you would have to better what we have done. That IS a major cup win, average position of 10th and European football in 2 seasons. If you match that I will hold my hands up and admit it. What I'm trying to decipher is who ACTUALLY expects that, or are you just saying it because it sounds nice.
As a small club, you have done exceptionally well, even to stay in the Premier league is an achievement. As I have stated many times, I don't regard the Capital One cup as a major trophy. Do I believe that we can finish in the top ten over 2 seasons? Yes I do, will we? who knows
We have layed down the gauntlet, if you truly believe you can better the above then say it, the floor (or thread) is yours. I'm more than willing to tell you on here what I think will happen and I honestly don't think you will be in the Premier League in 2 years time. Now how about you sticking your neck on the line or are we happy with blasé meaningless bravado?
So, you saying "I honestly don't think you will be in the Premier League in 2 years time" isn't blase' meaningless bravado? No, of course, it's a well thought out opinion based on fact!
The fact is that Swansea, norwich, southampton, West Ham have all stayed up, there is no reason to believe, with the resources and manager that we have in place that we can not equal what those clubs have done and stay up and no reason to believe that we won't go on to better things than them.
The floor, is yours.

We're half way there already by gaining our rightful place in the top flight. We got to two major finals in the last 5 years in division two! Are you saying its impossible for us to get to Wembley again?! You did well beating a reserve Liverpool side and a Chelsea squad in transition, but if we played Bradford last year at Wembley then we'd be in the Europa league. A penalty lottery was the unlucky decider for us there
Last night i was sat with one of your most senior staff at the Liberty. Extremely interesting and enlightening conversation:
PS, what have you done with your other alter egos?![]()
MASSIVE coincidence how we just hear from you nowadays and not them isn't it
Behave yourself!
If you were to "evaporate" our achievements, then you would presumably have to not just match them but better them. So ill ask you what I asked annis (before he made a hasty exit) was...
In our first two seasons in the prem we have achieved an average finish of 10th place (if we do finish 9th), wi a major trophy and European qualification under our belt. How do you envisage "evaporating" these achievements? Champions league qualification and a top 4 finish with a cup win?
Lets get it out here then we can revisit it in 12 months then 24 months time. Ill happily say my expectations of Cardiff which you may bookmark.
It could be argued that Brighton are the bigger club, they certainly attract bigger attendances and at one point the 80s were far bigger than us, however, they have not been promoted yet and if they don't then that goes against them
*** yes I know you are, I said its an amazing statement. Of course that isn't actually what we are talking about if you remember. The statement was "we will evaporate everything Swansea have achieved" not "we will get 5,000 more in our marginally bigger stadium".***
*** no it won't, it will be 4500 bigger as we are increasing to 22,750 in the off season. Which of course will be season ticketed. £400 X 5000 is £2 million minus tax. So about £1.7 million more in a seasons gate receipts, a drop in the ocean I'm afraid***
![]()
***I don't need to describe it as anything, IT IS a major trophy, that's all there is to it really. 90% of prem teams don't put out their reserves at all. Some prioritise with the league but theat also gies for the FA cup, doesn't mean it isn't a major trophy, this particular line of your argument is incredible***

*** whether you regard it as a major trophy is irrelevant, the fact we won it and now play in Europe is another gleaming success. So not only do you have to finish top 10 but you need to find a route into Europe. Be that by finishing top 6 or winning one of the tw majoro domestic trophies... The ones with European spots attached to them. Sounding a little difficult isn't it. You are the second poster to agree about "evaporating all we have achieved" and then changing it completely to "also finishing top 10, but we may not"

*** no it's not at all, it's being very blunt, clear and nailing my thoughts to the mast. In my opinion you will be relegated and I've made this clear. You think you will evaporate our achievements - but when pushed on the matter you gave a very meek "we may finish top ten too" answer. You sound like you have zero confidence and zero conviction in what you say.
These were is ole questions that have been dodged spectacularly for a page and a half now, and I'm still yet to recieve an answer, just evasive nonsense. In your first 2 years you will need to average HIGHER than 10th, you will need to qualify for Europe AND win a major trophy. If you can do that then you will have certainly done what we did to a better degree.... But nobody seems to want to say, speaks volumes - and alas I shall take the sound bite as I said it should be taken a page ago, with a very large dose of salt, unless someone wants to get some balls and back their opinion up with words..***
