So if you done some contract work for Redrow, or Wimpey, and then they said "We cant pay you the thousands we owe you, weve had a difficult financial year"

Would you turn around and say "Ah, dont worry about it. Right it off?" from the kindness of your heart?

Hmmmmmmm. Didnt think so.

Great news indeed and well done Dave Jones and Vincent Tan. It appears that 'common sense' has prevailed in order to put this particular 'issue' to bed. From where I sit, I reckon the legal fees alone would have been more than the paid settlement (est. around £250k according to sources today) :ayatollah:

What the golden ticket that the money from was meant to buy players , why hypocrites we were told the money from the golden ticket sales would go to DJ for players, DJ must of known what state the club was in, and he must of wanted to protect his own wages, and the golden ticket sale done that for a while.

Mate, you don't have to believe me but the fans weren't 'conned' at all. That is a public rumour that got well out of hand and the simple FACT is that events overtook those in charge of the club and they had a simple ultimatum, i.e. pay up (on another matter) or go to Court and face an almost inevitable 'winding up' order :(

You don't KNOW how (or even when) Dave Jones got paid in that period but you can be sure he was owed money by the time he left; thanks to The Riddlers 'dreamy' dealings

We didn't have Vincent tan on board at that time and it wasn't a case of the club playing 'brinksmanship' so much as things had got so desperate they were ronning Peter to pay Paul and I, for one, am glad now (maybe not then) that they did it and all debts have been or are in the process of being paid (unlike the Jacks) IN FULL ;) :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

I think its a bit harsh to label you as a hypocrite because like me you took advantage of an offer made by CCFC and put your hard earned up front in exchange for a 5 year price freeze. Also like me you think that Jones has already been well rewarded for his time and efforts at this club and it is pure greed which has made him seek this additonal payment.

However, Polo is right, if these bonus clauses were in his contract then he is entitled to the payment and it doesn't matter what you or I think.

The one thing that does bother me though is why did Jones have a bonus clause for reaching an FA Cup Final in his contract? Let's be honest at the start of the 2007/8 season would you, I, Jones, Risdadle or even Polo honestly believe we would reach the final of the Premier knock-out competition?

I don't think so and I honestly believe this bonus was made up on the hoof by Ridsdale and Jones when we reached the Semi-Final and drew Barnsley.

Re: " Dave Jones & CCFC SETTLEMENT "

Thu May 02, 2013 7:32 pm

Tony I dont think everyone who took the prize freeze is a hypocrite good on them I say.

I think those who still take the moral high ground and still bemoan Jones over it whilst still enjoying the benefits are being hypocritical.

It is not uncommon for players / management to have bonuses for whatever round of cup they are knocked out as obviously further the cup run, more money generated.

Although I will agree if we were paying that kind of bonus its no wonder we were skint but I blame that culture on ridsdale and sam not jones or the players.

What about the players he bought for peanuts and sold for millions?

If the guy is legally entitled to money then he has every right to claim it. How many of us would let their employers off paying us a bonus if we were legally entitled to it? Hmmmmmmmmmm.

I wonder how many people abusing Jones are still taking advantage of the golden ticket scheme? They are the hypocrites.

Personally I didn't because I was waiting to see what players we were going to buy, didn't materialise and all the money went !!!!. As far as buying for peanuts and selling for millions who are you talking about? I remember Harry red knapp saying there was one player he feared in the fa cup final, jones didn't have the balls to play him. Jones is nothing but a money grabber

Roger Johnson
Glenn Loovens
Michael Chopra

To name three all bought for peanuts all sold for a combined total of 12.5m but dont let the facts get in the way of a good witchhunt Stuey
