It is the same prize as the 2nd place team and the play-off winner, in fact the play off winner gets more money than the first placed team. There are only 24 entrants and not one top flight team involved.
Anyone actually trying to convince themselves it's a major trophy are deluded in the extreme, or should let Alex ferguson know immediately, I'm sure he will get relegated in an instant to then challenge for the second tier title.

It would have been great to beat Portsmouth when we played them, but who'd swap places with them now, still can't get my ahead around what we really have achieved, this is massive and I for one intend enjoying and lapping up every moment of it.
Funny how when we won promotion it wasnt bigger than an FA cup during the middle ages, when you do it its bigger than the world cup.

You won you Trophy in front of a few hundred at Burnley we won ours at the home of football in front of 43000 of our fans. As far as luck goes 3 sides go up we finished third.

No they dont.
Yes they do.
Champions get 50k and a trophy.
play off winners get 20k a trophy ....plus gate receipts from a usually sold out home semi final and tv coverage package and a usually sold out wembley final and tv coverage package.

They have to put on those games which isn't free, plus pay their players appearance bonus' goal bonus' etc etc. Plus losers of the final get the gate recepts from Wembley. Team that finishes 1st also get's ranked as the 18th team in the Prem and the play-off as 20th so they get (slightly) more money.

What?
Putting on games is a pittance compared to sell out crowds. They aren't valid for season ticket holders. So for Swansea as our example, 20,000 at £25 a head on average is 450,000 plus 125,000 from the TV package = £575k. Appearance fees would be what, 1-2k oer player? That's 30k outlay maximum. Putting on the game? Police, stewards, lighting etc 50k max?
That's half a million profit before we even take a look at the final in which they sold 43,000 tickets at £40 a pop which is £1.7 million. They still get this even though most clubs tend to give it to the loser, it's not compulsory.
The prize for going up in first place is 50k, promotion and a trophy
The prize for going up via the play offs is circa £2.2 million, promotion and a trophy.

So are you saying the tax on £2.2 million will take it down to less than 50k (minus tax of course).
I think you have just realised youre wrong

Surely someone attempting to say £2.2 million is less than 50k qualifies of trolling nature. I'm simply stating facts, which of course is the opposite of what a troll is.
But I'm glad you now realise you get more cash going up via the playoffs which was all my point was.
