The Welsh Football League is fucked.

Club rugby is not going to lose fans to football - I can't see middle aged men jumping over to being football fans.

But club rugby has to work a lot harder to bring in new fans now.

It will benefit the city of Cardiff to the tune of millions, but rugby will suffer if we expand our stadium next season.

The WRU has always looked at itself as being well off in the business sense and not worried about Cardiff City.
However, this has been a lazy approach by the WRU. They are probably worried now about Cardiff City getting much bigger on a global view. I can see more businesses buying into Cardiff City and not bothering putting money into the rugby regions.
From next year we will have massive exposure around the globe and about time :ayatollah:

I hope the rugby regions suffer as Newport and Cardiff shrugged off Ebbw vale and Pontypridd as they wanted to go alone, thinking they were bigger than what they were. Now we know, they are all struggling financially.
I like rugby but will not shred a tear for the 4 regions.
The rugby game in Wales needs a massive change.

It is going to be a big struggle for the WRU, but they need to put a lot more money into the grass roots of the game. :D

Maybe rugby wouldn't suffer if they had a brand to compete with the football but with the exedous of Wales biggest stars to France and England I don't see how they can attract the new breed of fan.
I played rugby in the Clemo era and everyone of the team always looked to the tv for the city score at the end of each game.a lot of those guys are now season ticket holders at Cardiff and only attend rugby internationals along with the vast majority of the welsh public.
What will happen if Cardiff and Swansea cement their positions in the premiership is the next generation of kids will be forcing their rugby supporting dads to take them to watch Cardiff because quite frankly they will want to see Wayne Rooney playing on a billiard table of a pitch as opposed to some unknown welsh youngster playing on a mud heap at the arms park :ayatollah:

I despise Welsh egg-chasing too. Arrogant, self-righteous, you name it. They know the score, deep down. Football has always been more popular in Wales. They are seriously worried, and its just brilliant
