do you think club would take risk on him if wasn't ready???
if you do well i trust malkies judgement thankyou! :malky:

If you read, I say I hope we don't see him back. With this type of injury, it would be a senseless risk to rush him back - but I totally trust the medical team - would be a big surprise considering the relatively short recovery time.

At the end of the day, this is only Carl's opinion - not the opinion of club/Malky.

Who said it wasn't the opinion of the club as well ?

Carl, don't even bother engaging with this complete pessimist.

If Chuckle had a pint 9 tenths full he would call it 1 tenth empty.

The saddest person on this board without a doubt.

I don't post much I have to agree, he's on here day and night after his failed attempt at organising a protest in which he pulled out off, now he thinks he's a massiah

See my post, unknown when the next one is as everyone else hasn't played all their games. The play-off is also only one leg at a neutral location too! I would have thought a friendly will be organised in the meantime to both keep the Development team on their game & also to give Nicky some minutes - as looks unlikely that the play-off game will be in the next 2 weeks or so..

Completely disagree. I think he'll play if we struggle to get it done and Malky uses him as a last resort to throw everything at it. Only then is it worth the risk.

If we're already promoted, it would be almost suicidal to put him on in games that mean nothing especially considering we could be playing Hull who may have everything to play for themselves. The risk of injury in this division is far greater with the physical approach of many teams and the terrible pitches some clubs have.

Agree with this. Theres no need to play him unless we really need to.

Wait what has Chuckles said wrong? I agree with him I dont want him playing again this season unless we really need to. Theres no point rushing him back. Players who havent played for a while normally pick up an injury.

What part of he's looking as fit as a fiddle did you not quite grasp?

And as for "players who haven't played for a while normally pick up an injury" - it's better to play him now than in three months time innit by your logic?

Get back on the weed mate your a no hoper.
There right he shouldn't play there's one thing playing a game of head tennis and another playing in a championship match with so much on the line, just because he's jumping around does not make him fit.

I won't quote you Sir Chuckles as I know many users have you on ignore. But please tell me - in your opinion of course - as you are entitled to it - and I would hate to disagree with one so knowledgeable and infallible - in your opinion, how many of your 3600 posts have been positive?

Secondly, how many posts of yours - in your opinion of course - include the word opinion in the text?

So how fit is he then? I don't know as I'm not on the CCFC medical staff....are you?

Has it ever crossed your mind that Malky might know a bit more than you or I about his general fitness.

If Malky plays him he's fit enough for me as Malky never ever rushes a player back after injury.

Even you must be able to work that out.

Just because I disagree with most of your negative tripe, it does not follow that I have ever denied your right to an opinion.

My disagreement off your drivel is my opinion. Is that OK.................in your opinion?

Why can't you just accept people will have a different way of looking at things than you? I won't be answering your questions, because you don't like my "drivel" apparently.

If he's fit, then he plays.

Total no brainer.

We've got to get a few wins to guarentee the championship trophy which will be the first bit of silverware we've had in an age!!

Why would you want an asset like that kept out of the squad if he is fit??

More time off the field doesn't mean shite if he's heeled........what he needs is match fitness regardless if its coming to the end of the season.

It would also be nice to read through a thread without all this constant "its my right to opinion bollocks".

At last a comment about the original post. Every thread on here is getting ruined by the same people having stupid arguments.

I'm sure Malky will do whats best for him but let's hope Maynard is fully fit and ends the season scoring goals to win us the league!

If he is totally fit, then I'd get him involved.. That's a big IF though. The medical team know what they are doing, but it would be a very quick recovery from a big injury.

I'd hate to see him break Down because he was ever slightly rushed in - as has been seen many times before in football and that's all I am saying.

Matt Connolly and Fraizer Campbell have been doing work in the pool and will be assessed ahead of Saturday's game but it is my opinion that Saturday will be a little too soon for the pair of them.

Carl, do you think that either one or the other could be fit for Saturday though?

Nicky Maynard could return for Cardiff City this season

Cardiff City's star striker could be back in action sooner than expected

Cardiff City striker Nicky Maynard could return to action soon
Malky Mackay has revealed injured goal ace Nicky Maynard could be back to pep Cardiff City’s tilt for the Championship title.

The Bluebirds’ £2.5m summer capture from West Ham made only three League appearances before knee ligament damage wrecked the rest of his season. But Maynard is back in full training, will make his playing return in a friendly match in the next few days... and could even appear for City in the last two games of the campaign against Bolton and Hull.

That huge showdown at the KC Stadium could yet be a title decider, with the Bluebirds and Hull each appearing favourites for the top two and automatic promotion to the Premier League.

With Fraizer Campbell struggling to shake off a shin injury, the news that Maynard is making better than expected progress is a lift for Mackay and his Bluebirds.

“Nicky is ahead of schedule, coming on well and could play again this season,” revealed Mackay.

“He will be training with the rest of the first team and we may look to get him into a friendly over the next couple of weeks. Who knows beyond that? Maybe in last game of the season there is something for him there. We will look at that.

“He wouldn’t be picked for sentimental reasons. He would only play if medically and fitness-wise there is a big tick. But the confidence he will gain knowing there could be a shot before the end of our Championship fixtures and ahead of pre-season in July is vast.

“Nicky has supported the other players and the team throughout his injury, backing them every step of the way.”

“An injury like that is mentally a devastating blow for a player. During afternoons when everybody else has gone home, it’s pouring with rain in mid-December and you are a fair way from fitness, is a tough time.

“Players can be in the gym alone doing exercises on a leg. People don’t see those tough times when self doubt can creep in.

“But Nicky has been great. He has had a lot of support from our staff and to see him back out on the training ground over the last couple of weeks has been brilliant.

“He is talking about when he’s going out to start a game. That brings big smile to my face.”

There you go chuckles theres your club statement confirming what carl has said ...and for the record ( for the last time) I will again ask you to prove where I have said anyone can not slate gestede or any other players ...I have on many occasions asked fans not to call players donkeys and find more appropriate wording as its very disrespectfull to call players donkey and the like ....now lets leave it there and get on with supporting all our players starters and subs to finnish the job and win the championship imo thats all that matters at the moment :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Doesn't confirm anything - all IFs & COULDs at the minute.

If he is fit, great - I just don't want to see him risked like Hudson was and injured again.

Hudson returned from injury and sustained an injury to a different part of his anatomy.

As for risk, I would say the medical and managerial staff are better qualified than any of us twats to say whether NM should play. On a purely footballing note, I hope he is able to and does, even if it is only a cameo to give his confidence a boost. That said if it is for a longer period then I would be absolutely delighted - he was a tonic to see in those 3 games - pacy, skilful, a real handful.

Up the City!
