goodness me. The most fearsome Derby's are usually against clubs from other cities which are close in proximity.

If your view point is correct then the following fixtures would not be classed as a Derby.

Leeds v Manchester United

Leicester v Forest

Swindon v Oxford

Qpr v Luton

Oxford v Luton

Luton v Watford

Norwich v Ipswich

Newcastle v Sunderland

Plymouth V Exeter

Palace v Brighton

Burnley v Blackburn

It's going to brilliant and we will really be under the Sky spotlight, it will be interesting to see what they make of both games and the atmosphere ..... It will be a lively one for sure !!!!!

Its a derby game for sure. One thing I do hate though is when people say it's the most fierce in British football? Norwich/Ipswich, Derby/Forest, Manchester derby, Chelsea/Spurs, West Ham/Millwall and Soton/Pompey are just as bad if not worse.

It's the most unique derby in the county though thats for sure. Two Welsh clubs who playing the English leagues.

I know a lot of Man Utd fans who dislike Liverpool more than they do Man City.

Doesn't have to be the same city.

Think the "south wales" bit gives it away, nobody is stupid enough to think its a "local" derby mate but a derby it IS same as newport would be, bristol and wrexham i'd agree are just rivalries. Only my opinion of course.

Wrexham is a Welsh derby,Bristol City/Rovers is a severnside derby, like whats been said already you dont have to be in the same city to have derbies

Well your going to be in a very small minority, some derbies are in the same cities but that isn't what classifies a derby.

It makes it more of a fierce derby in many ways that it's a derby across City, there's no middle ground like there is with the likes of Everton-Liverpool and Forest-County.

It is one of the most fierce rivalries in the UK, and the first one in the Premier League will be something special. Everything gets so big when you first get in the Premier League and it will make the derby better, and you are already up.

Forest v County?

Last time I looked Derby and Nottingham were separate places.

I think he means Notts Forest v Notts County (1994 was last time)

Apologies! Not thought about Notts County for years! Think they played in League Cup last season. In fact the last time i thought about Notts County there was a certain Tank on the TV!

Agree that there will always be restrictions, it's the length of time waiting around that I think they could address, probably builds up more issues. Have to say though, it's well policed these days, to the point that I have no issues taking the kids along, not sure I'd have been so confident in the days of Ninian and the Vetch.

Not just the length of time waiting but 50 minutes drive to cardiff, wait around and in the ground for hours, can deal with that, but then 50 minutes back to Cardiff knowing that 5 minutes from your ground and i'm passing my house!!! that is the hard bit. Only did it once, went in with you lot then :o

Leeds Service Crew needs medical help and following Leeds' pitiful circus this season isn't helping him. He makes the Jacks on this board seem as clever as Stephen Fry.

The only medical help that Leeds Hovis Crew needs is a lethal injection, although his brain is probably to thick to tell him he's dead.

Interesting discussion.

Rivalries, sometimes very fierce indeed; Cardiff v Swansea or Bristol City, Real Madrid v Barcelona, Ajax v Feyenoord, Southampton v. Pompey, Wrexham v Chester, Newcastle v Sunderland, etc.

Derbies; Rangers v. Celtic, Liverpool v Everton, Juventus v Torino, Tottenham v Arsenal, Blues v Villa, Milan v Inter, Barcelona v Espanyol, Atletico v. Real, Lazio v Roma, Bayern v 1860' etc.

I agree with ScotsJack's cousin! Just spend some time in a two-club city, then you'll see what a derby is! Although, the more successful of the two clubs will always pretend that the derby is not important. It is!
