Well done Wales

Wales boss Chris Coleman was full of praise for his players despite seeing them slip to a 2-1 defeat to Croatia at the Liberty Stadium.

Gareth Bale's penalty gave the hosts a 21st-minute lead in the World Cup qualifying Group A clash but the visitors hit back strongly and snatched the three points with late goals from Dejan Lovren and Eduardo.

The defeat leaves Wales 10 points adrift of Belgium and Croatia at the top of the group with only four games remaining.

Coleman said: "We were nearly there and we could have gone in at half-time two or three goals up, we had some real good chances.

Bitter sweet for Williams

"Nevertheless we were 1-0 up and full of confidence, but we sat back and tried to hang on to it a bit soon maybe and invited them on.

"But they are a great team, a really good team, and you can see why they are in the top 10 in the rankings.

"But we can't ask for any more from our guys, we can't. We gave what we had. The second game in a 10-day block is always a tough one physically because it is an intense group. But I can't ask for more from our lads, they gave it their best."

So again "Unlucky Wales" but not Well done.

Croatia were dominating the second half way before the sub. The fact we lost this match had absolutely nothing to do with the fact they are 9th on the world and have a much better side than us.

I disagreed wi the fact you said Croatia made a tactical switch straight away - they didnt, it came some 26 minutes after we went ahead.

We had an inability to deal with Croatias change as we had no quality in the bench and tired legs on the pitch.

TBH i thought we'd screw it up again but when Berthold was sent off i thought, "hold on a minute"

Pax When Bale missed the chance to go 2-0 up you could see by his response that was a golden chance, and it was.

They bought an extra CB on at half time pushing Chorluka and Srna further up the field rendering our midfield void.
The game swang in their favour and from that moment we were chasing the game. Bringing on jazz for Kanu was as you said our best option to try and counter it. But the game momentum was already away from us then.

....they should never have let bodin take that pel.
