we'll probably end up singing it at Cardiff games

It's a welsh song not a rugby song. Shall we sing a different national anthem because they sing that at the rugby as well.

It was made for rugby though. The national anthem wasn't made for rugby.

I'm not against it, I think it sounds great. I'd sing along if the proper version was sung at a Cardiff game but I doubt it would go down well with a few people.

Neither does Men of Harlech but we still 'sing' that.

Re: Around 2000 welsh fans in scotland?

In fairness I heard men of Harlech far more than h&a. Not that it really matters.

Re: Around 2000 welsh fans in scotland?

Sat Mar 23, 2013 10:45 pm

Harlech is many miles away from Cardiff. Our fans don't sing men of Harlech, they can't be arsed to learn the words. I remember singing hymns and arias in the Grange many times, it's all pathetic really.

Why should Jacks keep a low profile at Wales games? Just incase some fat pissed up Cardiff fan has a go is it? Ridiculous that we all can't grow up, even following our country.

Don't people realise that wales fans fighting each other is just backward as f**k.

Exactly what I thought when I watched Polish fans batter f**k out of eachother in the Millenium stadium a decade ago. We are just the same type of people as Swansea fans for f**k sake, we just support a different club. It's like going to work in Port Talbort and half the office being split by a line of segregation and stewards because Jacks and bluebirds can't get on.

what planet are you on the song is about a group of welsh guys taking a trip to twickenham to watch wales play england in the rugby, explain again how its not a rugby song, a welsh rugby song and its a great one funny aswell, especially whe they give a bottle of piss to an englishman but its still a rugby song.

Jinks I was hoping you were above all that but sadly not. Wise up for f**k sake, be the bigger men and not give them any aggro because it's a Welsh football match. Who gives a f**k if they would be wankers if they had the most men, I don't. I couldn't care less about some fat, bald pissed up blokes thinking they are rambos cos they fights at the football I care about Wales on the pitch.

well sucks to be you then glad youve taken your humiliation so well glad you can be a man about it and accept your mistake and not resort to name calling, oh hang on that would be my mistake, sorry I seem to have misjudged you.

"Just can't get enough"
"Take my hand"
"Men of Harlech"
"Three little birds"

And many many more have nothing to do with football. This is a bizarre twist in the tale of Hymns and Arias, it seems it's the only song that HAS to be about football in order to sing it  it sounds great in fairness and the acoustics of the song work.

Besides, it seems to be helping their players, Michu declaring it as one of his inspirations.....

It's obviously time to move on, being as football hooliganism is dead so Cardiff/Swansea rivalries in terms of turning to physical violence is largely obsolete. There is very little reason for any hostilities between Cardiff/Swansea supporters at Wales games. Various groups of England supporters used to fight each other, this has died out, largely because it has died out at club level. Same with us, everyone supporting Wales should be welcomed, if only on international occasions, it would make for far better turnouts anyway.
We used to sing Hyms and Arias at Cardiff but Swansea have made it their own, so good luck to them, it ain't that great and there's plenty of other songs out there to sing without squabbling over who sings what!

Jinks would you say it is right for a few thousand to bully a hundred ? But saying that the Jacks bought about 400 to the match against England with the sole objective to make a half hearted attempt at getting at Cardiff fans. So they are just as bad.We all hate each other, but just at International games this should be put to one side.
