We are a much bigger club of couse we would have a bigger budget than little old welsh Wigan from the ospreys stadium :ayatollah: :malky:

Considering that we have maybe 5 prem quality players at best then the majority of the team will need rebuilding. I don't think that 25 million will even scratch the surface. :ayatollah:

I think its a cracking transfer budget. I doubt Norwich spent that much. Im more than happy doing how Norwich have done this season in transfers, or even Yo-Yoing for a couple of years then when we are balanced settling into the Prem such as WBA.

You should consider that transfer/wage budgets from this and previous season will be lower than those for next season due to the huge increase in tv money coming from next season.

I thought it was interesting that Tan said he thought the core of your squad was fine and £20-25m would go on 2-3 players.

I found that interesting too.

I had actually touched upon that but it got deleted. Inflation will happen next year, players will be paid more and clubs will want more for their players. What we will see happening is, £4 million players on 35k a week become £6 million players on 50k essentially. Still £25m on transfer fees alone is substantial but with players who command fees of £8m each (Tan wants 2 or 3) come big big wages.. We have to be sure they aren't going to be our downfall if relegated.

It's something we are going to have to see how it pans out. But this season Southampton have spent £31m, QPR have spent £39m, Villa have spent £28m (with a prem squad already).... And yet all could quite conceivably be relegated. It's not what you spend but how the club can adapt to the top flight as in contrast Swansea only spent £19m this year and £12m last year and have never been in any danger.

Will be interesting to see.

If you think Malky can pull off a Swansea in the transfer market you are crazy. They got most of their newer and better quality players thanks to the pull of Laudrup who is highly respected. He convinced them to join Swansea and play good football in the Premier League. Malky won't have the same pull. Great man, great future in management I believe but at the moment he hasn't got that pull.

Swansea got bargains because Laudrup had contacts and could persuade players to want to leave their current club to play in the Premier League under him.

Why do you keep alluding back to the "Malky won't do a Swansea"?

He may not do that but we know he will use the money he has wisely, and will not do a QPR and buy loads of big names expecting them to gel instantly.

He will buy players of quality to fit into our current squad and strengthen us.

It is a concern that velikonja and kimbo have had little impact and they were big money Malky signings.

Kimbo little impact?

Have you watched him?

He's been quality and made and impact everytime he's played.

Not in my opinion. He's neat and tidy but makes little impact on games, certainly for the price tag.

When he plays he calms everything right down, like he did at Wolves on Sunday.

He'll be a big player for us next season.

That's another thing we will have to wait and see regarding. But I've not been impressed.

Considering Maruan Fellani is worth about £20 to £25 million, I can see £25 million getting us about 3 good premier league players for next season, with about 3 loan players :ayatollah: :old: :ayatollah:

With £25m spending comes players that want big wages. Look at QPR, it's ugly.

Your right, we should look for players that only want to play for us for the honour, because it's not about the wages they can earn, I'm with you on this, could be the new way forward.

Is that what was said then? No.

It's about punching above the clubs financial weight and the problems at leads to. But as you have brought up the players, you have to ask yourself why anyone who can command such a fee and wage would consider themselves only good enough for a team likely to fight relegation, I show you exhibit odemwingie and exhibit samba and then show you exhibit QPR.

Spending £8m on a player and giving him 40k a week wages is all well and good if the profits the club make allow for that. Look at Swansea, first season record signing was £3.5m on Danny graham and 25k a week, year after it was £6m on Ki and 35k a week, next year they have probably earned the financial elbow room to buy a £9m player and 50k a week.

You seem on a one man mission to preach the word of liquidation.

People can bang on about this figure all they like but it was put out there at exactly the same time as the name change release with the intention to try and get people talking about the money side of things instead of the actual intentions.

Re: Transfer budget revealed

25m is a decent enough figure to start with. As long as Malky is shrewd he can pick up decent Premier League players who are on the fringes of their top 6 sides for a couple of million each and then bring in a couple of better players who command higher fees. Its how you spend it not how much. :old:
