An amazing fact is they are the third oldest professional club in the world :notworthy: :notworthy:
Great for them to keep going all that time

Wrexhams catchment area is nowhere near as good as that looks , half of it is snowdonia for a start where nobody lives , the far west is like saying Fishguard is in cardiff a catchment area , not really true as there no real motorway from west to east and it takes ages to cross . the southern parts of the red could easily travel to Birmingham , Shrewsbury , Chester , plus the big merseyside teams , Anglesey is full of inbreds and hillbillys who's tow trucks wouldn't get to the racecourse anyway . There fan base would be around 12k IMO as a champ team

Agree it would probably be around 12k as a championship team.

But their is a major road from west to east its called the A55 that joins up with the M56 etc, on a clear run you can make it from Anglesey to Wrexham in an hour ( if you avoid the attention of the North Wales Police/Gestapo traffic police)

Their are lots of supporters who follow Liverpool/Everton as well as both Manchester clubs.

Liverpool was known as the capital of North Wales & many from North Wales migrated to work their/as well as South Wales.

Like most people are saying on here, Wrexham will never be big because of their close proximity to the scousers, I remember in Newport County's football league days they were drawing bigger crowds than Wrexham. :old:

Been browsing this forum a bit lately and quite saddened but can fully understand the infighting as you look like finally reaching the promised land but at the cost of dividing some of the most passionate fans that ever came to the Racecourse. Cardiff was one of the fixtures we always used to look forward to and the day you brought 4000 up in one of our promotion years was a cracking atmosphere.
To answer the question, we probably reached our peak attendance wise, late seventies with crowds of 15/20k for the big games and sell outs for big cup matches with people traveling from all over North and mid Wales to games. I think we could be sustainable at championship level but that looks an awful long away off at the moment but hopefully we can get back in the league this time and maybe the trip to Wembley will give a few more the bug again.
Unfortunately it could be argued that both clubs have a hard core of around the 3k mark as its not that long since your gates were at a similar level to what ours are now.
Anyway enjoy the good times, especially the loyal fans who stuck with the club through the hard times and if any of you fancy supporting us at Wembley i believe the south wales reds have at least one coach going.

Tommy, Loved the Wrexham/Cardiff games at your place, some great atmospheres/nights and also some of the Wales matches as well. :malky:

Especially the 4-1 against England eh Cardiff red, the day the two clubs supporters joined together after the disgusting chants from the English. The Mark Hughes goal against Spain was`nt to shabby either.
