I'm sorry, but Celtic would not walk the Championship.

Don't you remember what happened to Middlesbrough under Strachen when he signed the best of the SPL? They really raped the Championship with Stephen McManus marshalling his defence to clean sheets and Scott McDonald still banging the goals in for fun at the other end. Oh wait, that didn't happen did it, Strachen got sacked! How did Kris Boyd do at Championship level? Yes, Celtic would really rape the Championship, it is a huge drop down from the SPL as that Middlesbrough team of the best SPL players showed after all!

Ledley wouldn't get into our team now, so he is nowhere near good enough for the Premiership I'm afraid. A shame because he could have been a decent Premiership player, but he decided to show a lack of ambition and play at a poorer level which has made his career decline. Ledley will never get back to the player he was with us now. In his younger days he was talked of in the same bracket as Bale and Ramsey potential wise. Now he struggles to get into the Wales team altogether. Such a shame he decided to take the first decent salary he was offered to waste his career instead of continuing to develop and improve further as a footballer.

Because he signed players from all different teams? Celtic now, as they are, would walk this league under Lennon with their current squad?

And Ledley would get into our team very easily. He'd easily get in over Noone, Cowie, Conway. Maybe he'd have stiff competition with Gunnar, but he'd easily slot in as he's a quality player. He's shown that in the Champ League. Ramsey isn't great now, his leg break halted his career and he's only just getting back into a position he can improve from.

He wasn't offered a new contract, so why wouldn't he accept a decent salary at a big club with European prospects?

Jesus Christ, bitters galore!

Oh dear god, it's absolutely pointless debating with you when you're arguing about the fact Gordon Strachen got sacked with his Middlesbrough side struggling with the best SPL players in that side at that time.

Iv always like joe but the way he just left was a little hard to take.

There is only 3 players at Celtic I'd take and none of them are Ledley. Wanyama, Izaguirre and Hooper. :ayatollah:

Mathews?!?!

Can he shoot? No, not at all!

He could tackle too and his passing wasn't bad at all. Don't you remember us turning down £7 million from Stoke for Joe?

Good player but I'm unsure whether he would get into the starting 11 now.

YOU SENT me a link to ONE goal to back that up? a goal from inside 12 yards? it was a good goal yes but u see him line one up outside the box and knock it in whilst playing at cardiff and I'll be shocked. i can honestly on my life say that i told people he was shit when at cardiff so its no bitterness to him moving on.

plus we sold rog for 5mil and ramsey. gunter for 4mil plus Jerome for 3mil, so ask yourself, Did we really really turn down 7million for him? we couldn't turn down any bids

Scored a good one against the Jacks a few seasons ago. And if I remember correctly he reached 10 goals in a season on a couple of occasions

Gordon Strachen is a shite manager. He went and bought a load of players and put them together, expecting them to play and walk the league? You have to have squad harmony, good tactics and a good manager to do well in a league.

But if you knew anything about football, you'd know putting loads of good players in a squad and telling them to go doesn't actually work in real life, only on FIFA.

But that's what Strachen did when he was Celtic manager, putting together his Celtic side with the best players from the SPL and winning the SPL title! Didn't work using the same tactic with Middlesbrough mind did it. Any team can raise their game for a big European tie, but a 46 game Championship season is a different kettle of fish, as Strachen found out with Middlesbrough that season. If you knew anything about football, you would know that.

nah, he made his bed, now let him rot in it, i would like to think in the position we are in. we are looking a a more superior player. than joe ledley, had his chance to go to the prem. but bottled it. and went to celtic. hes not in our league of player now

Yes, they raised their game for those 6 games, then went on to lose to someone like Kilmarnock the following game! Winning a league title is all about consistancy, something Strachen couldn't accomplish with his SPL "stars" at Middlesbrough, despite these "stars" previously being part of his Celtic team beating some good European teams before their Middlesbrough days.

So by your logic, Strachen putting together his team of SPL stars to win the SPL title with Celtic, the trying the same with Middlesbrough, failing and getting sacked brings you to the conclusion that Celtic would walk the Championship? Seriously? :?

Cardiff have beaten big teams then lost to Peterborough at home, 5-4 to Charlton away... What's your point?

Do you have a boner over Strachen? He's totally irrelevant to the current Celtic squad being at a higher level than nearly all of the Championship clubs and the fact that this Celtic squad would walk our league? And the main point that Joe Ledley is a high quality player?

I am using Strachen as an example because he has managed Celtic and Middlesbrough, with the same players, but he walked the SPL with Celtic, and failed in the Championship with Middlesbrough. Strachen signed the spine of his successful Celtic team for Middlesbrough in Stephen McManus, Barry Robson and Scott McDonald, plus the leading SPL scorer at the time Kris Boyd, and they couldn't consistantly do it in a better standard Championship division.

The fact is, future Middlesbrough managers inheriting those SPL players couldn't improve Middlesbrough's performances either. Ledley looks a good player in a very weak SPL league, but his international form for Wales against better standard opposition shows he has gone backwards as a player. Aside from Craig Conway who has improved considerably for us this season, I can't think of another player in the SPL who has moved to the Championship and hit the ground running.

The likes of Steven Whittaker can't get into the Norwich line up at the moment, and David Goodwillie has proven to be a flop for Blackburn. Gavin Rae for us was an ex Rangers captain, then we released him. Josh Magennis, another player we released is a regular for Aberdeen. Face it, the SPL is full of players who couldn't consistantly make the standard of Championship football.

Messi has rarely been great for Argentina, except for the odd game or two. Does that mean he's going backwards as a footballer in a league that's behind the Prem?

Are you also aware Craig Conway came from the SPL? As did Don Cowie? Kev McNaughton?

Or in the PL, what about Steven Fletcher? Dorrans? Ki Sung-Yeung? McCarthy? Maloney? Arteta? Ruddy? Krul? Snodgrass? Jelavic? Just to name a few?

Your post severely contradicts your signature.

Just another bitter who thinks that they have a personal relationship with the players at the club and when they leave it's like getting dumped.
