Oh we are talking "ifs" now well "if" that happened, and "if" we win our game in hand we go back above them.

Everything in the future is an "if".
However 5 points is always going to be 2 games worth of points no matter what stage of the season you are in. And 5 points is always going to be 2 games worth of points.

In my opinion, yes they can, and with the two sides meeting on the final day of the season at the KC Stadium, what a game it could be to end the season – a title decider, perhaps.
Cardiff do have a game in hand on the Tigers but there is no guarantee they will win

The leaders haven’t really had a dodgy period, but after losing 2-0 at home to Brighton on Tuesday night, it could be the start of their shaky spell.
I believe Cardiff hit the woodwork four times, so it obviously wasn’t their night.
A lot will depend on how they respond to that defeat now, and Malky Mackay will hope they will get back on track with a win at Wolves, not an easy game by any stretch of the imagination.
City are certainly turning the heat up on the Welsh side and I can see Cardiff bottling it a bit in the next few games.
Of course, whilst looking up at Cardiff and hoping for a slip-up. City have to make sure they don’t slip themselves.
It doesn’t do any harm checking on the teams behind you in the table to see who is closing you down, and when City look over their shoulders, there are some good teams on their tails.
Despite their loss on Tuesday, Nigel Pearson’s Leicester will stay in the hunt, as will Crystal Palace, with Ian Holloway no stranger to promotion campaigns,
Then there is Watford, who have won five of their last seven, and look a real threat under Gianfranco Zola.
It means there is no margin for error, but I think the Tigers have shown by the way they played against Blackburn that they can match any side in the league.
City just need to focus on their own game, and if they do that, I think they can hold off the chasing pack and even overtake Cardiff.
I have said all season that I don’t think Cardiff are as good a team as their league position has suggested.
If they do struggle during the next few weeks, I expect City to take advantage and blow the title race open.

Until that game in hand is played they are 2 games worth of points behind us.

There is nothing to answer. I stated a fact.
They are 2 games worth of points behind us.

They are 2 games worth of points behind us.
But need us to lose 3 to finish above us. The most significant fact of all.
They need to be above us after 46 games not 35. Only way they can achieve that is we lose THREE more than them.
FACT

Cmon, prove to me how Hull can finish above us at end of season with us only failing to win 2 games less than them

Games aren't won until they are played. You are taking the notion that both teams have 3 points in every game prior to them being played.
They are currently 5 points behind which can be achieved with 2 matches. The fact Cardiff have an extra game is irrelevant unless is won, and it isn't won until its played.
So therefore hull can catch Cardiff in TWO games.

But CANNOT finish above Cardiff at the end of the season unless Cardiff drop points in THREE games more than them.
This is about 46 games not 35, (or 49 / 50 the last time you failed to work out the points available)
Now either acknowledge its a 3 game cushion or prove my FACT that we have a 3 game cushion doesnt work.

No team won promotion for being 1 point ahead after 35 games as far as I am aware!
Its like two horses having a race, theres no point one catching the other with two fences to go if he cant catch him at the finshing line is there?
Now, I have some money to collect, work on some arithmetic whilst I am gone youve made a number of basic mathmatical errors on this thread. D minus for your efforts.

Same goes for EVERY club in the hunt BUT Cardiff have the advantage that they can AFFORD the odd slip, whilst the others CANNOT!!
As for "not being as good a club as their league position suggests" I reckon the author of that piece is simply trying to destabilise us. We may not have played the fluent style we might have liked BUT we have been EFFECTIVE and that, in the promotion chase, is ALL that matters
We've obviously done that BETTER and more EFFECTIVELY than 23 other teams so far![]()

It's still two games until the results if the games in hand are known. 5point behind.
